In other news, we had a pet mink in our fifth grade classroom. All of us loved him. You could pick him up by his tail when it was time to feed him, and he was totally cool with it.
17 megamink is a lotta fur.
2020, man.

You can tell these street muppets aren't serious about the cause. If they really wanted to bring attention to white privilege and economic injustice they would occupy golf courses. Especially during June; wedding season.
Initiation fees at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in, Gladstone, NJ are $300,000 - about mid-range. Two weeks without a tee time and the mucky-mucks would be on the phone to the governor directing him to send in the troops.

One lesson both sides need to take from this election is that universal mail-in voting has been a goat rodeo.

I think we are due for some heavy duty litigation in this area. Constitutionally speaking a vote can’t possibly be legitimate unless it can be tied directly to a real eligible voter. Wonder how far the Supreme Court will be willing to go to overturn results that can’t do this?
Isab at November 5, 2020 9:47 AM
The problem is the perception created by "found" ballots and post-election court litigation is that the election system is rigged.
This guy sums it up well in his opening passage, "I am more offended by how ham fisted, clumsy, and audacious the fraud to elect him is than the idea of Joe Biden being president. I think Joe Biden is a corrupt idiot, however, I think America would survive him like we’ve survived previous idiot administrations. However, what is potentially fatal for America is half the populace believing that their elections are hopelessly rigged and they’re eternally fucked. And now, however this shakes out in court, that’s exactly what half the country is going to think."
Either it shakes out with "found" ballots deciding the outcome, alienating one half of the electorate, or it shakes out with the court throwing out unsubstantiated ballots, alienating the other half of the electorate. Either way, the damage being done by "found" ballots and inept (corrupt?) vote counting is incalculable.
Candidates screeching that their opponent is trying to steal or has already stolen the election don't help instill confidence in the election process either.

Agree with pretty much everything, but another factor, in order for the electoral votes to be submitted by the deadline and count, as I understand it, they have to be certified by the state legislature. What happens when a Republican legislature with a dem governor or vice versa refuses to do this? Looking at one particular state but there are three where this could become an issue, if a recount doesn’t resolve it to everyone’s satisfaction.
As I understand it, this has happened before. The legal permutations, and possibilities are provided for in the constitution, but it will be messy.
We live in interesting times.

"One lesson both sides need to take from this election is that universal mail-in voting has been a goat rodeo."
The only issues are fictitious and were generated to rile up right-wing conspiracy types.
States like Florida managed to get it working just fine as they count mail-in ballots ahead of time.
The states with "issues" restricted mail-in ballot counting until after election day.
The only people pissed off by this are folks who liked where the numbers were at the end of Nov 3rd... and then discovered that the full vote count didn't favor their preferred candidate.
Elections aren't over until you have counted all of the votes... even the votes you do not agree with.

Paper ballots and the chaos they cause are a feature, not a bug, of old fashioned Democratic machine politics. It is absolutely ludicrous that anyone is still using paper ballots. Paper ballots are useful for only one thing, stuffing boxes during contentious elections. Is it any wonder that Republicans don’t win elections in the cities anymore?
Here in TX we have machines and plenty of them. For those who are over 65, a mail in ballot was available. My mom got hers, filled it out, took a picture of the registration number and was able to see when it arrived at the county clerk’s office three days later. Neat and easy. If you wanted to go to the polling place, but couldn’t stand in line, they brought the electronic ballot to your car. Add bio markers to this process and a lot of these problems disappear, but guess who will call that voter suppression and fight tooth and nail against it bc it turns out that shitty, racist ideas don’t win elections. Who knew?
