Fun fact:
Moderna isn’t merely a riff on “Modern.”
It’s a portmanteau of “Modern” and “RNA.”

Hey, that *is* a fun thing to know! (It took some of use forty years to see the pun in Chips Ahoy.)
I totally ❤ my ᴍᴏᴅᴇʀɴᴀ™!
Okay, here's another thing to worry about, another slow-moving threat.

From a link in the piece: A church like this could seriously help you believe in God.

Is it really like that or this is just another case of "Homer Simpson visits NYC for the first time?"

I didn't know there was one.

On teen summer jobs (Zits comic strip - it doesn't actually refer to farm work):
https://www.comicskingdom.com/zits/2021-05-24#comic-comments
Comments underneath:
rob mccallum:
"I grew up in a farming community. Soon as i was tall enough to detassle corn I spent every summer working, bailing hay, picking field crops, building fences, cleaning out barns and whatever other job people had for me. Left me completely unprepared for adult life as i never had to look for a job, and didn't give me any relevant experience for jobs in the adult world."
The quiet one:
"Not certain I agree. I spent two of my high school years on a farm doing the very tasks that you listed. Whereas, I didn't follow that path. I believe the work ethic you have to have farming served me well."
pheets:
"Farm skills (mucking, picking, digging, repairing, rebuilding, etc) might not prepare anyone for the "real" work world but they DO come away with a pretty good work ethic. I would hire a farmer over non more often than not just because of that. Sharper observation skills, more innovative/flex with variables, well understand the long hours and slow rewards. THESE are abilities that can be applied and welcomed just about anywhere."

Wait, are there actuall Summer jobs for teenagers? I thought CPS and people offended on behalf of the kids made sure that anyone who made a minor do actual work would be rewarded with jail time.

So I tuned in to NASA TV this a.m. to check out an ISS-Ohio State linkup (kids kids kids! talk to a astronought in outta space!) and the first person to pop up is a lovely young college girl who introduces herself with
"Hi, I'm Anne, and my pronouns are they/them".
Ugh. Remind me not to hire her.

Note they were all talking about farm work. In many rural areas there are options at that age. In urban areas not as such.

Author Larry Correia, cited here a few times, was a dirt-poor rancher's son on the end of the bus line to school.
He used the time to read everything he could find.
It's really up to you.
