Always the middle pieces. Lasagna or brownies, the middle pieces rule.

Context matters.
Right out of the oven? The edges because the brownie has a crispy skin.
It's been sitting in a while? Meh, all brownies taste the same once the moisture seeped all over it.

Supposedly, men prefer edges and women prefer the centers.
(I saw a baking pan on TV once - trivia news story, I suppose - that was something of a zigzag, so that ALL the brownie slices would be "edge" pieces!)
