The Left Goes KKK
LA Times headline about radio host Larry Elder -- who could end up being California's next governor.
"Larry Elder is the Black face of white supremacy. You've been warned."
"White supremacy" used to mean something, back when we used it to refer to bigots who burn crosses in lawns.
Now it's the "Eew, he/she has cooties!" of supposed adults incapable of putting together a reasoned argument for or against something.
In the LAT, Erika D. Smith writes:
With polls showing that nearly half of likely voters support recalling Newsom and that Elder is in the lead to replace him, ignoring the self-proclaimed Sage from South-Central is no longer a viable strategy. Particularly for Black people."He is a danger, a clear and present danger," said Melina Abdullah, cofounder of Black Lives Matter Los Angeles.
It's not just that Elder would be a Trump fanboy Republican trying to run a state dominated by Democrats. Or that he has zero experience in elected office and clearly doesn't have the temperament for governance. (He can't even take questions from journalists without losing his cool.)
It's that -- perhaps out of spite or perhaps out of an insatiable need for attention -- Elder opposes every single public policy idea that's supported by Black people to help Black people.
Are black people really this monolith? Every black person supports all the same policies, etc? She concedes no -- long after that para, but then makes what I guess she thinks passes for an argument:
Black people, particularly Black Angelenos, overwhelmingly vote Democratic.
Then there's this silliness:
Indeed, his candidacy feels personal. Like an insult to Blackness.
From earlier in the piece:
"Do we still have the phenomenon where a young Black man is eight times more likely to be killed by another young Black man than a young white man?" he told the Republicans in Orange County. 'If the answer to those series of questions is yes, I submit to you that systemic racism is not the problem."Elder mocks critical race theory, though I'm not sure he understands what it actually is. That doesn't bode well for ethnic studies in California.
"Ethnic studies." Psychological abuse perpetrated on students and employees telling them whites are irredeemable racists and blacks are helpless without whites stepping aside for them.
In other words, ugly racism.
Count me out.
Also, how amazing that this was published vis a vis how -- in my experience as an op-ed writer -- editors make you shore up your arguments...uh, and actually make solid arguments.
Here, it's just a bunch of people with dark brown skin calling the guy names like "clown."
Disgusting. I suspect this will do more to win Elder votes than the other way around.

I disagree with him. I can see how systemic racism might create conditions that encourage young men to kill each other.
My disagreeing with him does not make him a White Supremacist.

I think there is a tangible distinction to be made between suggesting someone has become an icon for a particular movement and indicating that someone is a part of that movement.
A good example would be Naomi Parker Fraley who became an icon for the feminist movement as "Rosie the Riveter" despite the fact that she was a traditional conservative woman.
The point being that it is possible for Larry Elder to be considered an icon of sorts amongst actual white supremacists even if he personally isn't one.
We've seen that kind of thing happen before.
The important thing to do when you identify that you are starting to curry favor amongst people you do not want to be associated with is to make clear statements distancing yourself from them.
I have little patience for folks who try to walk some kind of fine line in order to maintain favor with hateful groups while preserving so-called plausible deniability.
It isn't difficult to maintain integrity in such situations if integrity is actually important to you.

Democrats were, always have been and always will be, the party of racism.
And it's a familiar refrain. Anyone who is against Critical Race Theory doesn't understand what it is. Fortunately, I found a university professor who is very much a proponent of CRT who was very willing to explain it in a series of tweets. Uja Anya is her name. And this tenet alone is enough to give pause to any reasonable person.
Now think about this. This is stating that the narratives given by non-whites are to be accepted as "legitimate authorities and evidence."
A "narrative" is what anyone schooled in logic would call "anecdotal evidence." So not only to we have to accept a person's word as to the occurrence of a particular event, but we must also, without question, accept their interpretation of the event.
For instance, Wesley Michel was prevented from tailgaiting to gain access to a secured apartment building by YouTube executive Christopher Cukor. Michel claims that it was due to racism, and that when Cukor called the police, he was attempting to kill Michel by proxy.
So, the fact that Wesley is an asshole and tried to bypass the building's security system rather than simply wait for the tenant to let him in isn't a legitimate interpretation of this event. We must accept the narrative that big, bad Chris Cukor is an evil cross-burner. And further that calling the cops on a black person is attempted murder, regardless of what laws they break.

I watched the LA Times editorial board meeting with him. From the editor-in-chief on down, they have no standards; it's almost quaint that you think they would have not published a pure attack piece.
That lead editor was jumping up and down, and then that faux-nice woman who planned the ambush tried to bring up some false equivalency, "If you aren't going to take our ambush from some **** who called you David Duke apologist, how will you ever engage with people who disagree with you?"
The LA Times wasn't much, but it's just a skin suit worn by committed communist activists and apparatchiks.

I love Larry Elder--used to listen to his radio show when I lived near LA--but the point that he has no experience in public office is a valid one. The upside if he's elected is probably Arnold Schwarzeneggar.
(Yes, I know I probably have that spelled wrong. Too lazy to look it up.)

"The reason why so many extremely woke people turn out to have been bigoted in the past is because bigotry used to be the best way to bully and intimidate people, but now performative anti-bigotry is the best way to bully and intimidate people. An evolving toolset for sociopaths." - Shant Mesrobian
This explains it better than anything else I've read or heard.
