I'm not against the SAT, GRE, LSAT, GMAT, or any of the other hoops we have to jump through. More information is always better when you're evaluating applicants for a limited number of spots. I'm just not so sure that the SAT is identifying inherently bright students, since most of the kids who do well on it probably have access to expensive test prep services. I don't remember much about the SAT, but for me the GRE was ALL ABOUT staying organized and productive under intense time pressure. This is a good skill to test. Unfortunately, the bright students who aren't so organized --- and whose families can't afford the $800 course at Kaplan -- are going to perform poorly.
