Cathy's Right
Cathy Seipp weighs in, exactly right, on the Mary Kay Letournau case (the schoolteacher who, at 34, had sex with her 12-year-old student):
I agree the gender reversal does make things rather different, but still not OK. This is real life, not a soft focus European art house film.
and he is so ugly--he was ugly at 12 and worse now. What is wrong with her?

I don't see how the gender reversal makes anything different at all. And while a 15-year-old Cathy with a 21-year-old camp counselor isn't legal, it doesn't even come close to Mary Kay's behavior on the repulsiveness scale (do the math: a 6-year age difference vs. a 22-year age difference). If Mary Kay's that thirsty for sexual power, why can't she just get a whip and a pair of black patent leather stilettos like the rest of us?
My name is Lena. I'll be your mistress tonight. at August 9, 2004 10:55 PM
He's ugly? I haven't seen a single picture of him. As for her, she's ugly within and without. Apparently, therapy wasn't part of her sentence, the sicko.
Stilletto heels? There is no way in hell I could learn to walk in those.
