Sunday In The Farmer's Market With Gregg
The view from the counter seats at Monsieur Marcel last Sunday. It isn't Paris, but it is colorful -- and very tasty. Order the lamb with melted goat cheese on top, especially if it's your last meal. In hot weather, I order off-menu: a plate of duck rilletes. They bring a slice of it that looks like regular paté instead of a little bowl of it like I'm used to getting at my favorite café in Paris. Butter a small piece of baguette, then spread the rillettes. Eat, repeat.
The rillettes I made for the Bastille Day +1 party were excellent. Flavoured with juniper, which is plentiful around here.
I must comment, however, that I'd never think of adding butter. Rillettes are quite fatty enough as it is. Ask for a few cornichons on the side instead.

Patrick, you said some stuff about doctors the other day that I disagreed with, though I didn't respond. But this thread at Seipp's brought you to mind.

I've had those little lamb chops with the goat cheese at Monsieur Marcel. They were delicious.
Just had a cheeseburger and fries. Also delicious!

Re: Farmer's Market- Get the catfish poboy at the New Orleans place on the west end, then go get wine at the sports bar across the courtyard there.

I confirm:
Rillettes with cornichons on French bread -- and a glass of light red wine (Gamay, Beaujolais, Brouiily, or here Pinot Noir).
Yum!
