So is Audrey Tautou, but I don't think she would have made a good president either!

Now next month's parliamentary elections. Will the Socialist face another defeat?

You never even gave her a chance, Amy. But that's what they needed! A stone-skippin', toy-returnin', kir-serving waitress with a pageboy and fabulous chin!
86% turnout.

About 42.4% of the US population voted during the 2004 elections. Roughly 122,267,553 out of 281,421,906 (2000 census figures) Americans voted during the last presidential election.

And in states such as california, the numbers are even more deplorable:
2006 general election-->69% of CA eligible folks were registered to vote. Of those registered voters, 56% actually cast ballots (or 39% of total eligible folks cast ballots)-->NOTE: this was not a presidential election year, BUT it was the year where California Constitutional officers (such as governor) were being elected as well as a bucketload of bond measures.
2004 general election-->75% of CA eligible folks were registered to vote. Of those registered voters, 76% actually cast ballots (or 57% of total eligible folks cast ballots)
It will be interesting to see what happens in the presidential primaries in Feb (for California)...

Hey, Delpy's an American now. We could always make her Governor...
