"He's hacking into the mainframe."
*We just installed Windows 3.1 -- there's no way!!*
That brings back so many, many painful memories.

As does early AOL. I think I got on in 1993. It was great, too. I'd sit in my room I was renting from Marlowe's ex-boyfriend Dave, and be in chatrooms and BBS with some really interesting people, some of whom are still my friends today. People make fun of AOL, but it was a great little world for me. Some of the interesting people I met and became friends with through AOL: My lawyer, Melissa, Terry Rossio (wrote Shrek, etc.), Josh Olson (now a screenwriter himself, just seen on the picket lines), and Marlon Brando. He and I met in a chatroom on AOL and became penpals for months and months before we became friends. I had no idea who he was, and he could tell I really couldn't care less about actors. He encouraged me in my writing before anybody did.
