She Was Asking For It
The latest story from the Saudis on why the woman was raped. Via CNN/AP:
Under fire for its treatment of a rape victim, the Saudi Arabian government on Saturday said that the woman had an "illegitimate relationship" with a man who was not her husband, and that both "exposed themselves to this heinous crime."...Under Saudi law, women are subject to numerous restrictions, including a strict dress code, a prohibition against driving and a requirement that they get a man's permission to travel or have surgery.
In other words, if you're a married woman in the barbaric and backward land of Saudi Arabia, you could very well die of breast cancer if you married to a guy who's kind of a bastard and you haven't done such a good job with the dishes.
Quick, somebody remind me why anyone should be "tolerant" of Islam or its Sharia law or any of the trimmings?
And no, as of today, still not a peep about this on the site of the National Organization of Women:
Of course, they do have a lot of real issues on their agenda.
The national orginazation for women doesnt care about women, they care about control and advancing their agenda.
The only time they comment on anthing is when it helps their cult, excuse me orginazation.
Women could beraped and murdered in the streets of DC, if talking about it harmed their agenda they wouldnt mention it

When was the last time you met someone who cared at all, at all, about the National Organization for Women? Aren't they just a punch line at this point? Sure, there are a few newspaper editors (guys near retirement) who still throw a few column-inches at 'em every now and then as a habit. But it's been at least 15 years since I met a woman in her 20's who looked to them for any degree of instruction.

I just used NOW as an example of feminist-think in the USA -- rather unconcerned with actual emergencies and dire situations for women.

Typical attack on slow-moving, opportunity targets. Attacking governemntal offices is way more easy than attacking real issues.
For the NOW to attack Saudi-Arabia as a whole is a dangereous thing for this left-wing group. Many leftist groups are an Equalitarian point of view on this. For them, all the cultures on Earth are equal and must be treated with respect. This includes the Sharia.
So, nope, they will do nothing. It's not in their best interests.

Heya heya, I just went to their website, and it's filled with all the usual abortifacient and lesbionic fascinations... Including a rainbow-raced landscape image of women who, as Carlin once said, you'd never want to fuck anyway.
On the other hand... One headline effort is focused on compelling Wal-mart and other Big Box stores to carry emergency contraception (the morning after pill). This is an indisputably worthwhile thing to do.
But back to the first hand, the effort is dated November 17th. I know it's a holiday weekend and all, but this suggests that their web-competent staff(er) was out of town and couldn't be replaced.
When we see how easy it is to produce and maintain a blog every day, this may be a telling exposure of anemic popular interest.
"Telling exposure of anemic popular interest" may be my shittiest phrase this week, but you know what I mean. Nobody gives a shit about NOW.

These days, remaining current on the web is of primary importance -- and the fact they don't see that or seem to care highlights how irrelevant they are.

Brewing coffee I realized that got Carlin's joke wrong, and if you're gonna steal a joke you shouldn't steal it from the other side of the fence.
"Ever notice how the women who are against abortion are all women you wouldn't want to fuck anyway?"
