G'wan! Have Lots Of Children You Can't Afford!
It's how the Catholic church produces parishioners. All the more in their collection plates after the kids grow up to have litters of children they can't afford.
The Pope, clearly one of the world's foremost authorities on fucking, maintains that it's wrong for Catholics to use artificial means of birth control. Yeah, but wrong for whom?
Benedict expressed concern that human life risks losing its value in today's culture, and worried that sex could "transform itself into a drug" that one partner had to have even against the will of the other.
Tell that to all the people whose partners won't have sex with them anymore. How many people you know who aren't getting it at home are also raping their partner at gunpoint?
Make the Pope a happy man, and keep on procreatin' and fill up those collection plates, kiddies! After all, the Church has got all those pedophilia fines to pay for protecting and moving around all the kiddie-diddling priests. Hmmm, perhaps the Pope should be more worried about the fuckers within?
Yup, my young birth mother's Catholic beliefs are likely the reason I was able to sneak past the existential border patrol and into the Land of the Living. I don't go to Mass, though.

Vasectomy is the all-time champion border fence; I heartily endorse its efficacy.
(While researching this comment, I was was somewhat impressed by this internet item.)
(Furthermore, this old exchange has fun discussing Mass.)

When the Catholic church starts using their vast wealth to pay all the health care and schooling costs of illegal immigrants, sure, open the doors!

Does noone question getting moral advice from an institution that
1. protects child molesters
2. gave "divine" endorsment to the institution of slavery
3. promotes the worship of graven images in violation of the first two commandments
4. ignores the ceremony for the sacremt as laid out by jesus himslef
5. and not only that but cliams that jesus is a liar
Why does anyone pay attention to these people?

Our good Pope has evidently not noticed that his policy, followed in practice if not by his direction in several countries in southern Africa, is at the root of most of the misery there. What a great idea... not. Starving to death? Have another baby. That'll fix it. The buzzards are thriving.

Looking back, I think the Church was ultimately right about the Pill because it seemed like everyone complained about ill effects. And it made men awful spoiled - if you got PG it was, well you screwed up so get rid of it, I'm outtta here. Nowadays, from the stories you see, it seems to be get rid of it or I'll get rid of you. No one will abide any obligations impinging on his creature comforts and sacred pleasure.
Yeah lovely world we've got now, exactly as predicted in Humanae Vitae.

Like, apperently cassandra has, like, never heard of soming called, like, child support.
News flash, EVERY religion has said we are living in the end time and all the horrible shit going on around us it the proof.
It wasnt true for the celtics, germanic tribes, romans, greeks, persians, assyrians, babalonians, egyptians, mioans, chineese, hindus, aztecs, incas, olmecs, hell is wasnt true for the dozen or so christin sects that have predicted the end of the world from the first century AD until now.
So why is it true now?

I am so glad someone else realizes the catholics are idolaters. Mother Teresa was the worst thing to ever happen to India. Starving? have more kids!! They'll flourish in heaven after their miserable short existence here! I really just can not fathom the fact that people still follow this religion. It really makes me wonder.
I am christian, but also pro-birth control, believe in evolution, and don't think god hates gays any more than greedy rich folks or fat gluttons, or the rest of us imperfects.

*Benedict expressed concern that human life risks losing its value in today's culture, *
Um, how about valuing the life that's already here? If you can only afford one, HAVE one. Having the second, third, and fourth one when you can't afford them is devaluing the life of the first one you had.
Once again, Catholics cannot follow logic. And my mother wonders why I don't go to church...
