The Truth Will Keep You From The Grave Of Your Fallen Soldier Son
A Vietnam vet whose son was killed in the Al Qaeda attack on the U.S.S. Cole has been banned by U.S. military officials from visiting his son's grave due to decals on his car like the Islamic star and crescent with "We Died/They Rejoiced" -- which is the truth. The story is here, at JihadWatch.

I don't think I have ever commented on one of your Islam posts and for a reason. In a great many regards I disagree with you, but not to an extent that I really feel compelled to argue with you (nor do I now).
But this really fucking pisses me off and is absolutely inexcusable. Sorry, but folks don't have a fucking right not to be offended and quite honestly, the sentiment expressed on that sticker is absolutely true. There are a lot of Muslims who were rejoicing at the bombing of the U.S.S. Cole.
In all honesty, this is the sort of absolute bullshit that makes me increasingly sympathetic to your position on Islam.

Thanks for posting that, DuWayne. It's absolutely unbelievable that this guy is having his speech squashed.

Well, we mustn't offend the muslims, after all. They're so sensitive.
And the last thing a military wants to do is give offense.
I mean, heaven forbid we offend someone before blowing them to kingdom come.

Politcal Correctness Will Kill Us All!
Paraphrasing one of DuWayne's comments: "People don't have a right NOT to be offended." But that's the crux of the problem, isn't it? Something has changed in our society where a great number of people honestly feel that they have a right not to be offended. I'm not sure whether they more sadden or sicken me.
Recent examples certainly include "official" Islamic groups and the pressure they exert on gov't and pseudo gov't agencies. We have one example presented here. Many more are occurring all the time in Canada. Good coverage on these can be found here: http://ezralevant.com
Loyal readers of Amy know that she was subjugated to attacks by the PC-crowd when she "dared" to discuss some issues that they deemed forboden. Rather than argue points with her, they just personally attacked her and tried to shut down her comment boards.
Dennis Miller may have violated several PC "rules" for what transpired this Wednesday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebgiT0EtnnQ He made some [very funny] jokes about ultra-liberal women in NYC not enjoying any erotic sex for 35+ years and a particularly twisted one about Barney Frank's sexual proclivities. Let's see if there are some demands for his head in the weeks ahead.
A people that loses its sense of humor loses its soul. Or as Miller might say, they just become really boring. The extremely unhappy PC minions applaud our descent into this world of dull gray. Fight it, fight it I say, every step of the way!

I am about as much a absolutist, when it comes to free speech, as anyone can reasonably be. On that alone, this makes me angry enough to spit nails.
But more than that, I am a parent and the thought that after my child might make such a sacrifice, I would be so callously disregarded fills me with immense anger. I have a strong (and often foolish) tendency to personalize stories like this one. They not only have done this to a man who buried his son, they fucking well did it to me - and every other parent.
My son (six) has become determined that he wants to be in the Navy someday. As a parent, I really hope that he grows out of it. As a man who has disagreement with most every military action this country has taken, I also hope he grows out of it. It is exactly why I never enlisted myself (though I am still considering the Navy reserves, seabies).
But in spite of my political feelings about our nation's military engagements, I have nothing but intense respect for the men and women who have chosen to serve every one of us. Even those who come home whole or mostly whole, have made a sacrifice for us that I cannot help but respect and have immense gratitude for.
I have to spit the bile out of my mouth, at the thought that some fucking moron in that military disrespecting the memory of service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the rest of us, in this way.

DuWayne - CB's are Army. Construction Battalion. Can Do!
This particular happening is due to the mushy-headed liberals that Clinton put in charge of the military, where PC became more important than Semper Fi.
Given that we've put another mush-head in the CinC chair, I expect it to get worse.

Umm, not quite: Seabees -- Wiki The Army is the Corps of Engineers.
That being said -- the Base Magistrate and Base Commander need to get a clue.

Take it up with R. Lee Ermey.

Sorry - misread. navy/army confusion.
My father would kick my ass if he found out.

brian -
Not according to the pamphlet I got from a Navy recruiter. I put it exactly the way it was described therein. I have also considered the Army Corp of Engineers, especially since moving back to MI. My main interest is disaster relief, which is the primary mission of the SeaBee reservists. I would assume that ACE reservists do the same.

Sorry, brian, posted before I saw yours.

This is sick.
I don't feel I need to add anything.
