How Islam Advances The World
First, here's yet another advance from the Israelis, who manage to do quite a bit of science when they aren't focusing on guarding against being driven into the sea by Muslims. Judy Segal writes for the Jerusalem Post that a team of applied physicists at Tel Aviv University have developed a way to weld wounds shut with a laser:
The team was led by Prof. Abraham Katzir, who found a way to maintain laser heat at the correct temperature so that the incision is sealed to minimize the risk of infection and scars and speed healing.Katzir says the development is "a groundbreaking medical technology" and could also be used quickly and easily by medics on the battlefield and at road accidents, as well as by plastic surgeons and other surgical specialists.
Katzir is the son of the late Prof. Aharon Katzir, the world-famous biophysicist who was murdered in the 1972 Japanese Red Army terror attack at Lod Airport; he is the nephew of Israel's fourth president, 92-year-old Prof. Ephraim Katzir.
I always wonder whether the cure for cancer or other terrible diseases died in The Holocaust. I mean, beyond the inhumanity of genocide of anyone, what moron kills Jews, with the Asians, the science nerds of the species? And no, it's not that others don't invent things or come up with cures, just that the Jews do disproportionate to their number in the population.
As for what Islam's given us, correct me if I'm wrong, I think there really hasn't been a significant scientific advancement from the Muslim world for 1,000 years. Here's the latest from an Islamic scientist; in fact, from a Hamas scientist, just down the block from the team welding skin together in Tel Aviv:
An Islamic scientist claim Islam's prophet Muhammad revealed the cure for AIDS, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute.Hamas TV scientist Ahmad Al-Muzain says Bayer, the German drug giant that developed aspirin, got its treatment for AIDS from "Prophet Muahmmad's Hadith About the Wings of Flies."
Al-Muzain, a Palestinian expert on "Quranic science," said during a program aired on Al-Aqsa Television Sept. 19 that the German company only confirmed what already had been revealed by Muhammad. (Video is here.)
"The prophet Muhammad said, 'If a fly falls into your drink, you should dip it in the drink, and then dispose of the fly - because one of its wings bears a disease, and the other bears the cure.'" Al-Muzain is quoted saying.
Hadith are oral traditions of the words and deeds of Muhammad.
"This hadith was included in the Al-Bukhari collection," Al-Musain said. "This hadith makes it absolutely clear that the Prophet Muhammad confirmed a clear scientific fact: If a fly falls into a vessel - before a person drinks from this vessel, he should dip the fly in his drink, before disposing of it. Then he should drink the beverage, because it won't do him any harm. Why? Because one of the fly's wings bears the disease, and the other one bears the cure."
The scientist said, "In Germany, the church paid a very large sum of money to two scientists to disprove this hadith. Since this hadith appears in the Al-Bukhari collection, we cannot claim that it is unreliable or anything, and so they thought that if they could prove that this hadith contradicts science, they would be dealing a devastating blow to Islam."
Al-Muzain continued, "The scientists took samples from the wings of flies, and began to examine them, analyze them, and take samples from their surface, in order to expose what existed on each wing. The devastating result constituted a slap in the face. The truth was devastating, and it backfired on them. The two scientists reached an astounding conclusion. They said that on one of its wings, the fly carries a huge amount of different types of bacteria, which adhere to it when it lands on rotting pieces of food that it eats. As for the other wing, Allah has given the fly the great ability to carry antidotes to these microbes."
Then he said Bayer "learned about this study, it derived great benefit from it. It established biological breeding farms, where they raised flies and extracted antibiotics from their wings - the strongest antibiotics in the whole world."
"This antibiotic was made into a course of five pills, which is given to the patients, and it is used - believe it or not, my brothers - to treat AIDS patients. ... How did they discover it? From this hadith," he said.
Invent something (other than a bomb vest to blow other Muslims and the rest of us up) and you might get to do something in the press other than crow about how "the church" stole Mohammed's wacky ass ideas.
Realistically, of course, that's not going to happen. Islam, of course, is totally opposed to the sort of thinking (rational though, for example) that would promote scientific discovery, and busy, busy, busy trying to institute Sharia law in the west so as to drag the rest of us back to the dark ages.
I remember a debate I had with an Islamist dimwit who was hell-bent over the idea that heavier-than-air flight was written in the Koran as a truth revealed by Muhammad.
He went on cursing at me when I mention him that not only it suck to know that two infidels (Wright brothers) beat the Entire Islamist world on the creation of the first plane, but that they are not even competent enough to build plane parts and they need western technicians to maintain them.
I don't know if I should pity them, laugh at them or do both.

Ahmed & Abdul were 2 Bedouin wandering the Arabian desert in rags. They were both pretty well the same, except that Ahmed had 1 goat and Abdul had none. One day Abdul came across a lamp buried in the sand. He picked it up, and a genie popped out and told him he could have one wish, anything in the world. Abdul said: "I want Ahmed's goat to die".
As an illustration of this mentality in action, I recall watching a PBS documentary on the West Bank several years ago. Some Palestinians could see into a nearby Jewish settlement from a hill above their village, and they could see that many of the settlers had small swimming pools in their backyards. They were all foaming at the mouth with rage over the fact that they had no water at all in their village because the filthy Jews stole it all to fill up their swimming pools. The interviewer pointed out that the same aquifer that supplied the settlement ran under their village, so there was nothing stopping them from digging a few wells and building their own swimming pools. The Palestinians stared at her blankly for a few seconds, then went back to ranting about the filthy Jews stealing their water.
In just a few decades since 1948, Israelis have managed to turn their little patch of desert into a garden of prosperity and knowledge. The Palestinians have nothing to show for 1400 years of Islam except suicide bombings, honor killings, poverty. and ignorance. It's this glaring contrast that fills the Muslim world with psychotic envy & rage, not the fact that Jews "took their land".
It's not surprising that Osama bin Laden, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and Mohammed Atta all trained as engineers. The more scientifically and technically educated a Muslim is, the more painfully aware he is of how the Infidels are light years ahead of Allah's chosen people, and the more he wants to hate and kill them.

I can clearly understand your point. No civilized person should endure the tantrums of the Islamists. I believe that it is safe to say that they are behaving live medieval people in front of a new technology; fear revulsion, madness and hate.
I don't think the West will never be able to expand their views out of the depth of their "Holy" book. What the West need to do is to wake-up to that fact that we can't deal with savage and that "Gunboat Diplomacy" work well in that case.
Here's the sad part; the 21st century is literally at their feet. Some of them understood (Dubai), other still live in their immaturity. Our work here is to support those who deserve it. For the other, they can keep their antibiotics made of fly wings and their heavy-water cures for cancer.

That's all well and good. However, they aren't satisfied to merely sit in their own filth, they intend to force everyone else to share their misery. If they'd just stay in their little shitholes, I'd be fine. When they look at New York City and say "Nope, it'll have to go", I get a trifle irked.

There's one simple way to deal with Barbarians: They hit hard, we hit harder. The State of Israel is gently floating on top of a sea of savages and they are still flourishing. How? They clearly make the Islamist leaders that, regardless of the attack they will launch against the Israeli State, they will lose more at the end of the day. The "They take an inch, We take a foot" work quite well.
We should apply this instead of talking about appeasement. I still wonder why Sadr City is still standing. If it was held by nazis 65 years ago, it would had been turned into rubbles in a matter of days.

Way too many of them are much more into colonization as opposed to assimilation. Islam is waging demographic war on Europe. According to Geert Wilders estimates, there are already some 57 million muslims in Europe. They are already "testing" the system in France, you know, all those restive "youths" setting cars on fire?
Can't happen here? There are already two of them in Congress, and they tend to vote Democratic. I have no confidence that Bary Hussein sees the threat, either.

Muslims in Israel do not want peace. The Israelis live at peace with many Arabs, like the Druze. Why? The Druze do not openly state a desire to wipe out the Jews. The Palestinians and Muslims do.
American Israelis gave the Palestinians millions of dollars worth of beautiful greenhouses, so they could grow flowers and support themselves by selling them to Europe. What did these people do? They destroyed the greenhouses.
Personally, I'm with Ken Layne: I think the Israelis should all move to Gaza and leave the middle east to the warring Muslims who can get back to killing each other once the Jews are gone. Oh, sorry - they're doing that all over the Middle East now, but they Jews do provide a lovely distraction!
A question: Are you Muslim? A reported 80 percent of Muslims are illiterate, while Jews, who have been chased around Europe and the world and stuffed in ovens, are highly literate and disproportionately Nobel Prize winners.
