Just arrived in Paris, went out for a little late supper at Les Editeurs, around the block from the apartment we're renting (the same one I stayed in last time, near Theatre de l'Odeon and le Jardin du Luxembourg). Took this photo with Gregg's iPhone on the way back because I liked the top part of the outfit on the left.

And it comes with US Coast Guard certification!

I wondered why you weren't back in Paris yet, circa 2008!

What's happened to the hip of the one on the right?

Crid, I think the one on the right needs a sandwich or two. And an Italian grandma.

Welcome back to Paris! I can imagine you being attracted by that ensemble...it is cold here now.
Let me give you a couple "off the beaten path" restaurant recommendations. Les Papilles, 30 Rue Gay Lussac, on the corner where it crosses Rue St. Jacques. This is actually on the opposite side of the Jardin Luxembourg from St. Germain, in the Latin Quarter. But if you find yourself crossing the garden, or if you visit the Pantheon, this is a great place to eat, and modestly priced. (The guy who runs it used to be the head pastry chef at Taillevent.) Bistro style/southern French cuisine.
Also in the Latin Quarter is the Michelin starred (I think they still have thier star?) "La Truffière", where you can find a very inexpensive fixed price menu for lunch. Dinner will break the bank, however! Frou-frou nouvelle cuisine that works.
Have fun!

Actually, I was here in February, 2008. But, would have been back before this, but I had to finish the damn book before it finished me. I actually got double columns done and I'm just polishing the telemarketer chapter, but almost done...fun stuff, polishing, not hard work. Did much of it on the plane. We had an utterly dreamy flight thanks to Gregg's trips to Detroit. He flew us here business class on Air France, in those seats that recline. I took a Benadryl to sleep, and again last night, and I'm now on French time. A big key to this is leaving the west coast at night. We had a 10pm flight out of LAX. Saw Jeff Lorber on our flight, a jazz musician I know from way back. And our main flight attendant had a good laugh when she offered me orange juice and I asked, in French, if they instead had "pomme de terre" -- which would be potato juice; potato, literally, in French, being "apple of the earth." I got "pomme" -- apple -- instead, and every time she came to serve us, she laughed a little.
