I was in Paris a couple of weeks ago - it was the first time i was not just passing through. It is a tremendous city - superb architecture, gardens, museums, food, etc. I can understand why you love the place. Rather expensive, though, with current euro/pound exchange rate!

I'll tell you next time. I was with a friend who knew her way about. We had a rather rushed time of it, but got our money's worth on the 3-day metro ticket.

One highlight was being targeted by a con artist. We were walking in the garden next to the Eiffel Tower (queues too long to go up) and a young woman picked up a ring in front of us. "Is this yours?" "No." "Look - it's real gold!" "Well there's a police van just there - go and hand it in as lost property." "Bye!" We followed her and watched her do another couple of tourists, but no-one took the bait. Anyway, it made my day.

I've never cared for the Eiffel Tower much. There's a lot of beauty in Paris, but I didn't really care for the aesthetics of the tower. (Then there's a whole body of art, architecture, and music from the same era that I don't like. So maybe I'm just a cultural ignoramus)

I have always enjoyed the whimsical nature of the Eiffle and it's wonderful being up high. Very Jules Verne. Thanks for this photo. Yes, this is one of many, many wonderful places to walk in Paris. Maybe not as good as going to an American Mall, but pretty good. I was suppose to retire last January and move into a little apartment there. Just can't seem to find where I put my 401K. I've looked everywhere. (And, yes, I checked the seat cushions in the couch)
