Racquetball...Or Jihad?
It seems the dimwit prison converts to Islam who plotted to blow up the temple my friend Steven E.'s family belonged to when he was a kid, plus the Jewish center in Riverdale, just needed a hobby. How lovely that the death cult that is Islam was available to provide them with an alternative to jogging, woodworking, or soccer. From The New York Times story by Javier Hernandez and Sewell Chan:
The shadowy figure of the F.B.I. informant is, in many ways, a driving force of the plot laid out by prosecutors. The informant, who has been cooperating with the F.B.I. for the past six years, first met with Mr. Cromitie at the Masjid al-Ikhlas, a mosque in Newburgh, in June 2008. At that time, Mr. Cromitie told the informant that he was interested in returning to Afghanistan. Mr. Cromitie spoke about how, if he were to die a martyr, he would go to paradise, the complaint said.A month later, the informant lied to Mr. Cromitie, telling him that he was a member of Jaish al-Mohammed, a terrorist organization based in Pakistan. Mr. Cromitie said he would be interested in joining up "to do jihad." The informant, who audio and video taped many of his meetings with the defendants, later told them that the surface-to-air missiles and explosives were provided by the terrorist group.
Nancy Rommelmann's take on this: "FBI goaded 'terror' suspects to act? Supplied fake weapons? Story smells nine ways from Sunday."

I've never been so happy to have a successful arrest. I live three blocks from where they were arrested!!! Bloomberg and Ray Kelly were basically outside my apartment.
Really, as much as I believe in tolerance and multiculturism the fact that there are people in world who still believe the Jews are to blame for everything is absurd. I hope those motherf***ers never get out of jail.
The area where I live is mainly a quiet area filled with cute little jewish families and friendly jewish grandparents. The idea that anyone would want to hurt them for no reason is horrible. I'm going to go to the Jewish Deli tonight and eat a corned beef sandwich in victory.

Ray Kelly, from the story: "They were disturbed about what was happening in Afghanistan and Pakistan, that Muslims were being killed"
Notice that our 4 black Muslim jihadis were not at all upset over the mountain of dead black Muslims in Darfur. Dead Muslims are just a prop, it's the thought of killing Jews, any Jews, that gets them excited. This goes back to the 7th century, when Muhammad declared to the Jews rhat he was a prophet from God, and that they must bow down & obey him. The Jews told him to get stuffed, and they've been making Muslims look like fools & losers ever since.
As for the FBI tactics, does ir matter, as long as these scumbags can only indulge their fantasies from the safety of their jail cells?

I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say it does matter. There is a difference between entrapment and prosecuting those who conspire to commit a crime.
If these idiots came up with the idea themselves and attempted to act on it, throw away the key. If some shadowy FBI informant recruited said gullible idiots into joining a criminal conspiracy he hatched up, I'd put the informant and his superiors in prison.
No, I'm not going to read the story. I consider it my pleasure and patriotic duty to do anything I can to help the Times achieve its well earned demise.

Mr. Cromitie stated "the best target" — the World Trade Center — "was hit already," according to the complaint.
And the second-best target was a pissant synagogue in Brooklyn?
Conan the Grammarian at May 21, 2009 12:19 PM
The Bronx, actually.
I don't know what the law says, but so far as I'm concerned, people who are willing to do stuff like this, entrapped or no, need to be locked up.
kishke at May 21, 2009 2:26 PM
MarkD is a bit right. It would not be fair if they where entrapped. The question is how far along the garden path these guys where led? But one aspect of me says if they where given the chance to turn back and they did not take it they should be tossed into jail to think about their actions.
John Paulson at May 21, 2009 6:28 PM
if they where given the chance to turn back
No one forced them to say they want to harm America, right? They could have turned back right then. And no one forced them to acquire the explosives and surveil the synagogue, either. Yet another opportunity to turn back. In fact, they had such opportunities every hour and minute of every day until they set the plot in motion. Any time, they could have said the hell with it, we're not gonna do this evil thing.

Here's the sister of the chief suspect, James Cromitie: "He was the dumbest person in the world"
http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/05/21/police-detail-disruption-of-terror-plot/
I'll take her word for it. But having said that, these guys willingly & eagerly placed bombs outside a building full of innocent people, including children, then rushed back to their SUV so that they could watch the slaughter on TV and celebrate. The fact that the FBI provided them with the (inert) explosive does not make them less responsible for their willing actions. From what I've read, it wasn't the FBI that gave them a hard-on for killing Jews, or the idea that, since the WTC was taken, a synagogue in New York would be the next best target. They came up with that all by themselves. There are many hours of recorded audio & video, so the truth should come out in court.

Did you notice her reason for calling him dumb?
"He was the dumbest person in the world. If he had gone through with this, anybody from his family could’ve been walking by."
Looks like it runs in the family.
