People For The Ethical Treatment Of Disease-Carrying Vermin
I kept thinking it had to be from The Onion, but no. It's PETA up to their usual silliness.

One wonders what planet these people live on. The last outrageous thing I heard were their demands that you be extra nice to your goldfish. I suppose that means we need to electrocute the neighbors cat, because it occasionally eats one of them...
Personally, I prefer the other PETA: "People Eating Tasty Animals"

Is it me or do you find ironic that just before the video they advertise for Applebee's nice big juicy MEATY burgers.
John Paulson at June 18, 2009 3:21 AM
No the stupidest thing PETA has ever done is trying to see if they could change fish to the new name aka good fact known as SEA KITTENS.

Did you HAVE to make me snort my coffee? I'm a new mom, I NEED my caffeine!
On the other hand, getting a fly with your bare hands is a pretty neat feat. Those suckers are fast!
momof4 at June 18, 2009 5:33 AM
Bugs. ain't. animals.
Bug OFF, you PETA idiots!
Just sayin'.
o.O

For any World of Warcraft fans: There's actually an in-game group called D.E.H.T.A. (Druids for the Ethical and Humane Treatment of Animals). If you kill any animal in their zone, even in self-defense, they will attack you on sight and bring the rage of angry pagan gods down on your digital ass.
Oops. My dork is showing.

PETA, there is a place for all of god's creatures, and sometimes it's on your plate, right next to the mashed potatoes.
As for the Ethical Treatment of Bugs? Are you shitting me? Please hook me up with your drug dealer pronto. I'd like to live in a 24 hour rabbit hole too.

I'm tired of the media focusing on the President's fly.

Who are you?

Amy Alkon

I think there's even one of his comments in my book, and maybe one of yours, Cridster. Can't remember. But, speaking of my book, I just got the copyedited manuscript from the copyeditor, who is one of my favorite people in the whole world right now -- meaning she went over it with a light touch and did not try to rewrite my stuff where I intentionally break rules, etc.

Crid, you've waited long enough. It's time you knew the truth.
I appear wherever I'm needed, wherever outlaws rule the West, wherever innocent women and children are afraid to walk the streets, wherever a man cannot live in simple dignity, wherever a people cry out for justice.
Wherever a blog could use a stolen movie quote or a fractured pun. Same-same.
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at June 18, 2009 3:46 PM
Amy, will there be a big PR launch party? They do that for major new authors, right?
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at June 18, 2009 3:48 PM

The modest, controlled swagger in your gait, the warm but insistent focus of your gaze, the commanding yet patient thunder of your voice... For these fine qualities and so many more, you are a heroic blog commenter.

So did you all see Che's granddaughter is posing for PETA? Hubba hubba.
Eric at June 18, 2009 6:51 PM
You men "Che" Guevara the revolutionary/dickwad that once shot a donkey for being too slow. What next Hitler's daughter touting for Israel. No No I go it Amy saying shes been saved by Jesus.
Give me a break!
John Paulson at June 18, 2009 8:20 PM
I'd Like to see some guy go into a PETA office with a box full of hissing cockroaches, "accidentally" Drop the box while attempting to place them with people who will find them a good home, and record how they react
