My Boyfriend Nearly Ended Up In An Asylum
And all I got was this groovy new photo!
Next step, website masthead redesign. If you have any suggestions/examples, do let me know. Please post only one link per comment, or you will get eaten by my spam filter. Two links? Please post two comments.
The advicegoddess.com treatment above was done by an art director who didn't know me, who did a favor for the guy who designed my site. I prefer very clean design and clever humor, but not so clever it will bore the hell out of everyone who sees it daily, including me.

What a pretty lady!

Aww, thanks!

Impish - lovely!
Jody Tresidder at August 26, 2009 3:28 PM
PS The old photo will show up in the individual entries until Gregg rebuilds my site, which takes a while, because I have thousands and thousands of entries!
Amy Alkon at August 26, 2009 3:28 PM
I second the motion about what a pretty lady. Too bad it takes Gregg so long to rebuilt your site, That wouldn't happen if you were using... Oops, I gotta go. I got a baked possum in the oven that needs my attention. More later.
Arvin at August 26, 2009 3:45 PM
Arvin, you can eat possum? Who knew? I just pulled some venison steaks off the grill, yum!
Amy, great pic. Seriously.

Lovely wench, quite pouncable! :)
Robert at August 26, 2009 7:06 PM
The wench thanks you!
And thanks, Flynne!
You're really eating venison? Did you catch it?
My friend Ari LeVaux has a lot of recipes for it. He makes great venison sausage, and cooked me some when we were in adjoining booths at the alt weeklies conference. His site is below, and he runs in a bunch of alt weeklies. Adore him.

You know hat's so great about this photo? Other than that you are a lovely woman--the "light of joy" in your eyes. The feelings you and Gregg have for each other are in those eyes. I don't think a "pro" could have gotten the same shot.

Amy, that is a great picture!! You look gorgeous!

Much, much, much sexier than the previous one

Perfect Picture!
This is so very you. Is there place left in the "Pretty Lady" bandwagon? I want to jump in.
Toubrouk at August 26, 2009 9:34 PM
I love the new picture, I didn't think the old one did you justice! Very nice!
crella at August 26, 2009 11:46 PM
Why would your boyfriend end up in an asylum? He's allowed to take pictures of a pretty and intelligent lady. If that's what life in an asylum is like, everybody should check in immediately. The world would be a happier place...

In my grandma's German-inflected Yiddish:
"Susser Punim" (sweet visage)
Great shade of lipstick for your coloring.
And what a lovely expression!

What a lovely sight to start my day with!

Yep, really eating venison. BF is the hunter, not me! But I'll gladly cook what he kills. He uses a bow. He bought himself a Black Diamond Black Ice bow for his birthday last year. He got a doe the first time he went out. The second time out he got a huge 8-point buck. (He skins and butchers them himself, but send the skins out to be tanned.) He always gives some of the meat to the property owner where he hunts.
When I grill venison, I first marinade it in a little olive oil, with garlic powder and cracked black pepper. I'm going to check out your friend's site for some more recipes, thanks for posting it!
Flynne at August 27, 2009 9:01 AM
Great picture Amy but I'm willing to bet that you're a great subject under any circumstances. I think it's aces but your happiness with it is more important.
As far as all the game-eating references go, reminds me of this old one: Why did God make the armadillo?
So Texans could eat 'possum on the half-shell.
All you venison eaters should keep in mind that acidulating the meat before cooking goes a long, long way toward making it tastier.

Heaven must be missing an angel ... er ... oh yeah, you don't believe in that stuff.
Oh well.
Thomas Fullery at August 27, 2009 11:47 AM
I like your twitter one too.

I'm late to the party, but the first thing I noticed this morning when I opened your blog was the new photo, and I really like it!
