See "Rude People" In Psychology Today!
The serial of my soon-to-be-published book, I SEE RUDE PEOPLE: One woman's battle to beat some manners into impolite society, is in this month's newsstand version (with the chimp on the cover), and now online.
Here's the accompanying photo you won't see in the online text-only version. Click on photo for full-size.
Here's the link to the piece.
Copies should be at Amazon this week, and I hope you'll pre-order one now! I spend way too much time every day checking my Amazon stats, and they go down, closer to one, every time somebody buys a book. (They went down to 7,000-something last week, which is seriously cool for a book that's not even out yet.)

Happy reading!

I'm guessing some people will be rude on purpose to have such a beautiful lady give them a swat.

Congratulations Amy! This has got to be very exciting for you!
One suggestion. While that's a fine picture of you -- I'm guessing most any pic of you is going to turn out well -- it doesn't work as well with the flyswatter. I had to look at the photo a while to figure out what you were holding. The problem is that the background is too noisy and the pic is bit far away for the swatter.

Great pic! The excerpt of your book was funny and interesting. Look forward to reading it.

Thanks, but if you buy the magazine, the photo looks great. It's not meant to be a blog item. I didn't know they wouldn't show it in the online version.

You look lovely Amy! Looking forward to reading your book...

Kudos to Gregg for his shutterbugging tho' I think he would have to admit that he has an exceptional subject.
Also, I have to at least somewhat agree with AlamedaMike on the "loss" of the swatter. I think that the angled roof line follows the edge of the swatter and that the swatter is mostly the color of the roof to its right makes it get a little lost.
Then again, I knew what it was as soon as I saw it.
Get a fraternity paddle and you could have a fetish shoot!

I have better shots for showing the fly swatter, but this was the one that best fit the piece. Also, it was cropped by the magazine -- probably so the swatter would show. The original has beautiful blue sky, and at one point, Gregg stuck a flying saucer up there!

Wow, that is a FABULOUS picture! I love reading your bits about how you find great clothes on eBay etc - maybe your next book (or article?) should be a shopping guide for women who want an occasional, affordable fix of real elegance.

"The Mobile Savage." Love it! I've ordered my copy. :-)

Love, love, love the picture! And I agree with Bertha on the book idea.

Looking good, as always!

Do you mind telling where the photo was shot? Somewhere in downtown LA near 9th and Hill? It looks like a hangout from my misspent youth. Except for the redhead.

Congratz! Getting it for my mom for XMas.

In an update to my previous comment ....
I didn't click on the pic to embiggenate it. When I finaly did, it's utterly clear that the swatter's a swatter.
Utterly clear.

I feel so inspired to go slip into a dress and put on some lipstick. Think I could nurse in that thing?

Amy, I got the same email that other posters are talking about and forwarded it to you. And yes, you look absolutely stunning in that picture! o.O

How nice to see a beautiful woman who also has a brain in her head. That she uses! Great job!

I remember once during an exchange a woman insulted your looks (I guess because she lost to your intellect). Looking in that photo, one has to wonder what she could have been talking about--definitely lovely and in great shape.
Looking forward to reading your book. If my wife likes it too, maybe I could talk her into recommending it in her magazine.
I wish you great success with the book!

Thank you so much, everybody!
And if anybody knows magazine editors, TV news/TV show producers, please put the word out!

It is fortuitous that I happen to be married to one. I'll hook you up.

Trust, thank you so much. From the cover (shot on my porch by Gregg, color-corrected by Crid) to my back cover (part of the copy was written by my friend Kate Coe) and then some (Nancy Rommelmann getting me a reading at Powell's in Portland and throwing me a party at Ristretto - Jan 3/4), this is turning out to be a very friends-and-family effort!

You're welcome, Amy.
I have a question. I looked for you on Facebook to see if you had a fan page, and all I saw was a personal page. Is that for your personal friends, or for fans too?
Just curious... I like keeping up with you, but when I'm a fan of someone I'm respectful about keeping away from their personal ives.
Posted by: Trust at November 11, 2009 2:55 PM
Thanks for asking. Hate Facebook, only joined because publisher "friended" me and I didn't want to seem to be a snot.
I just don't have time for one more site. I posted stuff there about my book, and I log in occasionally to friend people back. This is really the best place to find me.
