Today's "I See Rude People" Quote
A sorta daily feature. This is from Chapter Two of my book, I SEE RUDE PEOPLE: One woman's battle to beat some manners into impolite society:
Yes, I'm aware that you have mascara, liquid eyeliner, and five shades of gray eyeshadow to apply. But, see that guy in the Ford Focus behind you? He needs to turn left, too.
My book will be published November 27 (Amazon's Nov. 1/2 is incorrect), but copies are available on Amazon now. Order yours today!

The Man In Brown dropped my copy at my door yesterday. I'm already well in and enjoying it hugely.
Congrats on the book Amy and I look forward to adding more of your books to my shelves in the future.

Offtopic - I hate it when pregnant women do this.
On topic- On pg 100 here.

Blogdog, thank you so much!

The book is delicious. Not everybody out of Motown has talent. To wit.

Thanks, Sterling...and thanks so much for that review. I was so worried because I don't have any reviews up on Amazon (from newspapers or anything). You and Barb Oakley (she reviewed it, too) probably helped a bunch of people to feel my book is worth a read!
Amy Alkon at November 17, 2009 6:12 AM
Should be getting mine in the mail today, I can't wait! o.O
Flynne at November 17, 2009 6:16 AM
I just posted a review, too. Amazon says 48 hrs until it's posted.

I like this sorta daily feature.
I pay much more attention to reader reviews than to newspaper or publisher reviews. In fact, I totally ignore the latter two, as they're always grinding away at some ax or another.

Hi Amy,
Having read through your blog, I can say two things: first, I can't wait to pick up your book, and second, you should go on Bill Maher.
I like what you are doing here; I don't agree with you on every point but appreciate and respect where you are coming from.
I have my own stories about rude people and would gladly share any without expectation for remuneration or compensation; you have the venue and I would like to contribute. Write me if you are interested.
Yours,
Richard Mazzaferro

Bill Maher is on hiatus, but I did Politically Incorrect quite a bit and they're getting a book and I hope they'll have me on.
As for you stories, I don't really blog other people's, but thank you!

Amy Alkon is the mayor of sassytown.
This reminds me to write a review for Barbara Oakly's book. Excellent also.

A nation of schoolmarms.
Soon, they will be telling you that farting loudly in a crowded elevator is wrong.
What next?

Just ordered the book. Can't wait to read it. I will post a review when I finish it.

Amy,
the book arrived, and was immediately scarfed up by My Wife The Socialist. (She's into sharing). Little does she know the deviousness of my eevil plan. Can you do a cover of 'The Little Red Hen' next?

Amy,
This is off topic, but did you happend to see the debate on Intellgence Squared with Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry vs a Catholic Bishop and a British MP? It's excellent. Fry & Hitchens wiped the floor with them.

Thanks - did see that. I didn't post it because I found one or both of their competitors too dull. (Can't quite recall.)
Thanks, everybody - all of you who've bought the book and are reviewing it! I hope you all like it!
