Sunset in West LA is fan-fucking-tastic. Any time of the year.

Allright just rub it in! Last week we had 10-12 inches of blowing drifting snow and it took the better part of a day to shovel out. My front yard still has 3 feet of snow in some spots.
You used to live up north. You know what I'm talking about.

Global warming forecast for this weekend. Might wind up being enough to shovel. I sure hope not.

It's 12 freaking degrees here, with a forecast high of 30.
And we're looking at several inches of partly cloudy over the weekend.

Just as I was thanking god for the person who invented remote starters so that when I got into my car this morning it was toasty warm I see this posted, lol!

Yeah, Amy, rub it in. Here it's 36F and pouring down rain. I keep looking for some reason why my company needs to send me to Florida...

I love living in California! I will be spending the weekend at the Disneyland Resort for my grandson's 2nd birthday, and it looks like it's going to be warm enough for shorts! Gotta love 70+ degree weather the week before Christmas!

Oh hush Sara! It just got up to 26 here in lovely downtown Milford, CT. And just think, we've got a snow storm on the way. Oh joy. Please just take me out behind the dumpster and shoot me now. +.+

Ok. All you pussies complaining about it being in the upper 20's or even the 30's. Fuck all'a ya's.
It was 10 when I woke up with a wind chill factor of -7. We're getting blasted by snow this weekend.
30+ degrees is practically beach weather.
But. I really do love Boston. Bitching about the weather is a sport around here. Also. A white Christmas is heavenly.
I moved from Montana to northern California in the 1980's. I was nicknamed "Eskimo" for not wearing a coat. Hey, fifties and sunny in January? Heaven.
Of course, that was just before we had almost a month of no sun whatsoever unless you drove up in the mountains.
Watching people hydroplane when the first rains hit that oil buildup on the roads was entertaining, though. They were as bad as Montanans who forget how to drive in the snow, like clockwork, every damned year.

Truth be told, it was 17 degrees in Paris yesterday, and I'd be there in a hot second if I could. Or, I guess I should say, an unseasonably cold second.
Who says we don't have four seasons? Fire, rain, mudslides, and car chases. Oh, I guess the last one is pretty much year-round, so maybe you've got a point.
I just walked outside to move my car. Had to take off my jacket and just wear my short-sleeved shirt because it's balmy out. Heh - growing up in Michigan, I never thought I'd say that about the weather in December.
And the sunsets, interestingly enough, are most beautiful here in the winter.
I did four years in west Texas. Two seasons: hot And hotter.
I'll take the four seasons, and reserve the right to bitch about the heat of summer. I can always put on another layer. There is only so much I can take off before someone goes blind. ;-)

Last week we had snow in the Santa Cruz mountains and Mt. Hamilton was white. This morning at 6:00 a.m. I strolled downtown for a cup of coffee in my shirtsleeves. Go figure.
My life is blessed. Balmy weather and a fresh new copy of "I See Rude People" on my desk (thanks for the acknowledgment, BTW, I'm flattered!).
If anyone hasn't bought Amy's book yet, do it now. I'm laughing my way through it!

It started snowing last night here (DC area) and it's still snowing. I hate the cold and I hate the snow, wish I was in Florida or California. Read the book Amy, loved it. Recommended your web site and book to my therapist, I was reading it while waiting to see her. BTW she said who is that gorgeous red head on the cover.

This is not so. We covered this in a post here a few years ago, when Amy posted a dusk horizon from a trip in Arizona or someplace, and some commenters didn't understand why she was so impressed.
In Lotusland we have about 350 cloudless days a year. The sun always looks good dropping directly into the water if you're at the beach, but there's not usually much in the atmosphere for the sunset to decorate. After hearing about the magical California sunsets for my whole life theretofore, the naked heavens of West LA have been a disappointment for the last twenty years.
It's not just that I love disagreeing with Whatever, OK? But this is, like, a metaphor. No matter how obvious the errors of his perception....

I've spent quite a number of sunsets at the Whaler at the south end of Venice beach, many more on the north end of the boardwalk drinking hefiweisen at the place that's near Navy street, and a few watching from 10 miles out in the ocean on my friend's boat (the combination of bright orange reflections off downtown buildings coinciding with with the sunset behind you is moderately mindblowing). While not always spectacular, sunsets from all of these views had their own degrees of colored awesomeness.
Yep, another shitty day in paradise!

Winter can be reminiscent of a cartoon character on a bad hair day.
Valdez got 6 feet of snow over the last several days. Anchorage, not so much; only about 18 inches where I live.
It is incredibly beautiful, btw.
