Those are democratic voters. I do appreciate that the lady has spunk and heart.
Pew Poll: Dem voters are less informed than Repub voters
My point: the oft repeated claim that Repubs only get elected b/c conservative voters are ignorant ... is a silly claim. How do Dems get elected?
Not that there is any glory to be claimed: both Dem and Repub voters are significantly uninformed. I just weary of progressives using the "Repub voters are stupid" argument as a method of avoiding engaging their own brains with issues. Even Pres. Obama falls prey. Re healthcare: if Pres. Obama really understood what Americans are worried about: he would not believe opposition to health care is about being uninformed. But Pres. Obama, in his ignorance, in his grasping for explanation of the public's opposition, can only see "uninformed".
It doesn't help that President Obama has never really had to work with conservatives, has never really had to understand conservative arguments. At Harvard, he was polite to conservatives, and his shallow politeness - when contrasted with the open hostility of other leftists - was considered enlightened behavior. Obama's political career, until 2008, was a career lived inside a leftist bubble; was a career in which - one after another - his Illinois Republican opponents' sealed divorce records magically appeared on the pages of the Chicago Tribune - fatally wounding those opponents before Pres. Obama had to fully deal with them. President Obama's sheltered rise - in which he glided past conservatives, thus never being required to fully engage with them - is not serving him well at this moment.
Was Crid the one on the front of the ATV, or the one who kept hiding his face?
Sophisticated rednecks, no doubt. I bet among the three of them, you'd have enough for a full set of teeth!

Insults (and insults alone) appear like headless zombies in completely random contexts. Patrick, If I've sunk this deeply into your immortal soul, then you need to speak with someone. The strangers on this planet are not brothers and sisters for you to squabble with in the back of a station wagon on a long trip to Granma's.

Judging by their accents, these folks sound to be from the rural parts of Kentucky. Coal mining country. The country singer, Loretta Lynn comes to mind, and there was a lot of nastiness thrown at her because of where she came from.
Back breaking, thankless work for little pay - and it takes quite a toll on the body. Dangerous work and often deadly. Yet without it, many of the sophisticates around this country wouldn't be able to warm their homes.
Nothing *she* said was factually inaccurate. And I would venture to guess she probably knows a lot more than many Obama voters.
One of which, works in my office. Grew up in NY and lived in Manhattan working in all the "right" places in the finance field. Never voted before the last election and has no clue about the middle east, even though she is dating a middle-eastern (moslem) man.
Soon, this summer she will be traveling to the middle east to meet his parents. I asked her if she was going to be required to wear a hajab because of their laws. Her answer? "What's a hajab?" and "They have laws that say I need to wear one?". She also didnt know who our vice president was.... However, she does know the most recent Lady Gaga song out and all her shoes are super cute!!!!
Not thrilled about this post.

You gotta let it go Patrick. I agree with you on most things but the whole "I hate Crid" thing is getting pathetic.
Smug is your ugliest mode.
