Obamacare -- Not For Obama
Nor for the American politburo. James Lewis writes at PJM:
The most important amendment Republicans must propose for Obama's Medi-Grab bill is a very easy one:Resolved: that all federal and state employees must enroll in ObamaCare, without exception.Any violation of this amendment will be punishable by a fine, imprisonment, and/or loss of federal or state employment. Enforcement of this provision will be overseen by a popularly elected commission, whose proceedings will be open to the public via the worldwide web.
"All federal and state employees" includes every member of Congress and the executive branch -- those who currently have the finest medical insurance available in the country today (courtesy of you and me).
This is the key test for the Medi-Grab bill. Any member of Congress who votes against it reveals his or her true stand on America's founding principles. Anyone who votes for it shows that he or she actually gets it. There are many terrifying parts of this Medi-Grab bill, but this is the simplest litmus test.
It's so simple that everyone in the country can understand it. It's do-or-die in terms of the integrity and honesty of the takeover of one-sixth of the economy that Obama is so determined to drive through Congress.
Socialist regimes reveal their true nature by the special treatment they give to their permanent ruling class; they deny such treatment for ordinary schlubs like you and me.

Amen to that!

Having to eat one's own dog food does make a difference.

I have been saying it for weeks and I will say it again... What's good enough for the Goose is good enough for the Gander. If they are so damn sure that this is THE best healthcare plan for all Americans, then it damn well better be THE best damn healthcare plan for them as well.
But of course, you all know exactly what is going to happen right...?

What Sabrina said. If THEY don't want it, what makes them think WE do?
Morons.

Did anyone here bother to investigate before complaining? Granted, it's not "every federal and state employee" but forcing the people who wrote the legislation to use the exchanges is a good start, and it's in the law as passed.
Sec. 1312(d)(3)(D): “The only health plans that the Federal Government may make available to Members of Congress and congressional staff with respect to their service as a Member of Congress or congressional staff shall be health plans that are created under this Act; or offered through an Exchange established under this act.”

silly rabbit, what makes you think they care?
The way I look at it, this is a test, or possibly a dare.
'OK, so we passed something that looks politically impossible. Now we dare you to punish us for it.'
They think we won't or can't do enough to get rid of it, or them. Otherwise they are just delusional.
speaking of which, I have a few friends that are ecstatic over it... and I feel like I can't talk to them about it. They really DO think that health care should be a mandate and an entitlement. they're not the ones to pay, so why should they care?

The founders warned that one major danger of a republic was the possibility that the masses would vote themselves benefits at the expense of others, beyond the ability of the population to pay. Well, now it is here.

Let's be as clear as possible—
Obama and the underlings who've drafted this atrocity have exempted themselves from it.
This will go badly. When it does, a lot of people who are very proud of themselves today will weep with shame, alleging that events could not have been foreseen. They'll say you'd have to be a genius to have known how badly things would go.
But it doesn't take genius or insight to see that the people building our new future want no part of it.
Crid at March 24, 2010 8:46 AM
I agree. The GOP should abandon tradition and take this on, and the DNC should join them.
Then, they can cancel their pay-for-life scheme and kick all of the paid shills out of the halls of Congress.
God, that's funny.
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at March 24, 2010 10:31 AM
His solution is overly simplistic. Signing up for the plan is one thing - actually using it is another. It costs them nothing to be signed up for Obamacare.
Our beloved Congresscritters, SES civil servants, and the rest should use the same doctors and the same hospitals as anyone else. No special plans, no special clinics, no special treatment. This, of course, will not happen. They view themselves as far too important and privileged...
