That's Friend Of The Corps -- in a shirt a Marine colonel who reads me in the Stars and Stripes sent me from Afghanistan:
And yes, I think it goes rather well with the evening dress skirt I wore to the LA Times Festival of Books. I like to wear evening wear as daywear every day. Dress for a party and a party just might come to you.
P.S. Consider this my contribution to boobquake day. Do be sure to make your own, ladies.
I sense a recruitment poster in the making.

Also, I think it's awesome that you're in Stars & Stripes. It makes sense that many of those no-nonsense military types would appreciate your brand of humor and advice.
NumberSix at April 26, 2010 12:49 AM
Thanks -- I'm thrilled to be in that paper. I get the greatest letters and e-mails from soldiers.

Nice picture. I wish I looked nice when I get my picture taken... or at least semi-decent.
K.J at April 26, 2010 3:59 AM
Dig the vaguely seductive gaze. "I'm looking for a few good men!"
old rpm daddy at April 26, 2010 4:29 AM
Hah! I like that, old RPM. And thanks, K.J.

Isn't this Draw Mohammad day, too?
Happy confluence, if you ask me.
Crid [cridcomment at gmail] at April 26, 2010 6:14 AM
You just need your black leather jacket over it. You look hot!
momof4 at April 26, 2010 6:26 AM
Thank you! (Didn't want to obscure the shirt! But, I'll actually wear it with this skirt and a short leather jacket.)
Amy Alkon at April 26, 2010 6:34 AM
hubba hubba!

The outfit ROCKS!
Feebie at April 26, 2010 8:41 AM
And all this at 46! I'm impressed.

Re: boobquake day
Amy, I comment today more out of disappointment than anger or frustration. Given your frequent posts exposing and disseminating the evil that is militant islam, I'm surprised you haven't really embraced this opportunity to offer a stronger case against the mullahs.
From the original post about boobquake! "On Monday, April 26th, I will wear the most cleavage-showing shirt I own."
Now, while reasonable people can disagree if your manner of dress is modest or not, one thing we can all agree on is that it shows no cleavage.
I'm not asking for studio quality work.
I know you can do it.
If you don't post maximum cleavage, the terrorists win.
Scott at April 26, 2010 9:56 AM
Easy there, big fella!

"On Monday, April 26th, I will wear the most cleavage-showing shirt I own.
I am wearing one right now, if that's any consolation! Unfortunately, my photographer is back in his lair.
Amy Alkon at April 26, 2010 10:43 AM
Cleavage, schmeavage, she looks GREAT!! Love the shirt, Amy!
Flynne at April 26, 2010 10:52 AM
Very nice, darlin'!

NIiicccccceeeee.....
Work it.
Own it.
Love it.
Sabrina at April 26, 2010 12:31 PM
Love the look. Wanted to let you know that I found "I See Rude People" while I was shelving new books at the local public library. LOVED IT. I am inspired to take up the battle against rudeness and hope to make a dent here in the Pacific Northwest. You've picked up another fan. I'll wait patiently for the next book you write.

Strength, beauty, and a come-hither yet no-nonsense glare -- now that's a recruitment poster that would attract a few good men and then some! :-) Love the photo, Amy -- Gregg has captured you at your best!

Came home from work, hit the "Boobquake Day" link on the top of this page, and was taken to CNN, offering this message:

Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here.
And I thought, ain't in the truth?

Tit talk.
Crid [CridComment at gmail] at April 26, 2010 4:25 PM
From my perspective, you're still far too overdressed :o)
Gotta say, though, if boobage causes earthquakes, I'm going to have to say, 'bring on the quakes.'

Damn, I love an hourglass figure. On the evo psych front, you look like you have the Darwin-approved 0.7 waist-to-hip ratio. You is fine, girl!
AlamedaMike at April 27, 2010 12:22 AM
You're a knockout!
