I Am A Sucker (On Wheels) For This Stuff
Evian commercial:
Amy trivia for anyone who cares: I can do every skating trick here except for the backflip off the fence, spinning on my back, and walking on my hands. (I used to say I was "like Tonya Harding on wheels.")

Just remember what Evian spelled backwards says. ;-)

Cute rollerskating babies in Onesies: You can use them to sell just about anything.

Except (I hope) you've never stood by knowing someone was going to break your opponent's leg...

Haven't been on roller skates in more than 25 years. Haven't been on them while sober in even longer. In either case, my best move was falling down comically. My means of stopping was running into something stationary.

Do you still skate?
Rollerblades or 4 wheels?
I really would like to take up rollerblading b/c it's low impact and a good way to get outside and burn some calories while getting my dog tired.
...but I wiped out like 10 years ago and fell on my tail bone. The pain was so intense that I think I kind of was in shock b/c for about 5 seconds (which seems like 5 hours) I was completely frozen and it FELT like I was unable to move. I thought I was paralyzed. But it was really just my body reacting to the pain. I've been terrified ever since.

I have four-wheel skates with custom Scheider boots, and I can change my own bearings.
I used to be the vanilla element in the Manhattan Rollers (it was about 20 black guys, a Finnish girl and me -- we skated from Prospect Park to Central Park...a pal of mine named Pisces carried a huge boom box the whole way). I also went to Washington in a van with Sunny and Pisces and skated around the capital with rollerpeople from Washington.

Whee! I used to rollerskate four days a week. I gotta get me some rollerblades.

Ironic that you would like a video such as this given your distaste for sitting near the real thing.

The world isn't as perfect you wish it to be. Perhaps you should embrace that rather than complain about it.

I don't hate children. In fact, I have about nine in my life I absolutely adore. What I dislike is underparented children -- and that's on the parents, not the kids. Are you the sort of parent who brings their children to fancy restaurants and lets them wail or run around? If so, I'm talking about you.
My parents raised us to be considerate, and the reason I have such a great relationship with my neighbors' kids (who can be naughty at times) is that they are raised to be considerate. Sometimes, they'll wake me up or annoy me. But, their parents will say, "Hey, Amy might be sleeping," and the fact that they care means everything, even if I do sometimes get awakened or have balls bouncing against my house when I'm writing.
