I want to play "real or fake" with her...

The issue is that they are taking money out of our pockets to put the money back in our pockets. That is screwed up.
Have you heard about the $500K to Replace Windows in Visitor Center Closed in 2007?
We are just so fucked.

I must admit, I've spent my own stimulus money on Chinese Prostitutes as well, but the other projects were outrageous.
The turtle tunnel is not completely outrageous. I was more upset with the millions spent to train the turtles to use the tunnel.

*sigh*
That damn turtle tunnel. Sadly, I can drive over that particular stimulus package. Would take me about 15 minutes to get there. Now I see that the city is putting a new sidewalk along a major thoroughfare. More stimulus dollars?

I had to look up the Chinese prostitute one. In the end, I see it as being cheaper to use Chinese lab-rats than American ones. More "bang for the buck" as it were. So to speak. If you will.

I saw the joke-telling robot at the Improv. He killed. They should never have attached that death-ray to his arm.

I wonder if people discount the use of volunteers too much. I'm not against the turtle tunnel, but can't the govt shop around for volunteer do-gooders to help lower the costs? I would totally sign up for training the turtles. And I know there are lots of eco-friendly retired arthitects and engineers who would donate their time. It seems like the sort of thing that really only needs a few paid people.

Nicole - that wouldn't allow some third-rate bureaucrat to expand his empire and feel important.
And that's really what this is all about, isn't it? I mean, why strive to become the Assistant Director of Wildlife Management if you can't build an empire of lackeys below you?

Plus retired volenteers cant kick back part of their salaries in union dues and campaign contributions
lujlp at August 15, 2010 9:40 AM
Why can't we just make prostitution legal (for unmarried people)? Then we can involve American prostitutes in anti-smoking bullshit studies without fear of running afoul of the law.

Excuse me while I wipe my brain off my monitor. My head just exploded.
