I have never understood the urge to write on stuff. Carving initials in trees? Spraying buildings? Why do these people think anyone wants to read their scribbles? Do they like seeing the scribbles of others?
What's the motivation? I really do not understand!

Thanks to Gregg's photo, I guess this isn't all that far-fetched.

Mark: that is just grotesque. Just as out of touch as the "no pressure" video. Does the WWF really want their logo on these pictures? What are they thinking?

Now I'm waiting for some hammer-bright tagger to climb into a rhino enclosure with his spray paint.

Just got to New York -- here with Gregg for some Elmore events for a few days. Took the red eye, and just woke up. Staying across from the building where I used to work -- my job out of school as a producer at Ogilvy & Mather.
Since there is a case to be made for questioning everything - what is wrong with defacing plants?
I won't argue the concept that grafitti is an artform. Living without complaining is more of an artform, or should be.... and this plant, this lonely thick leaved piece of botany would have gone overlooked, perhaps for a lifetime, except that someone, some caring and gentle anarchist lovingly etched inscruttable messages upon its skin. Speaking on behalf of plants everywhere... I am gratefully envious.

The same thing that's wrong with defacing OTHER public property, such as buildings. Of course, it's even worse if the plant is in someone's private yard or garden.

Where was this taken? Because Hawaii's the only place I've seen so far where people graffiti the plants...
