A Letter On Opting Out Of The TSA's Peep Show Machine
Cancer and other risks...that sort of thing. PDF of the letter here. (I'm keeping it in my travel bag.)
Unfortunately, I have no letter about the psychological dangers of government-ordered sexual assault -- or that of our being turned into government-obeying sheep, as a condition of getting the distances we need to go by a reasonable method of travel.

There's a huge problem with this "stop the cancer machines" line of argument. Millimeter wave (THz) scanners, which have been installed at some airports, emit no ionizing radiation. They do, however, make 3D holographic nude images for TSA creeps to gawk at. You're OK with that?

Let's not let the health risk aspect become a red herring... although I have some concern about flight crews and frequent fliers, for most passengers the additional risk is nil. But for every single person who flies, the risk to their democratic society is not nil. The body scanners are an unconstitutional warrantless search, and about as invasive a one as you can get. If the government can do this, then under the same theory it can stop you and make you strip in the street.

So? Research it, write it up with citations, and post it online as a PDF! :) I think you're in a pretty stellar position to do just that.

On Fox News the other night, Juan Williams had John Pistole (Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator) on. Juan Williams asked Pistole repeatedly if the new security would have caught the underwear bomber, and Pistole avoided the answer and finally said something about not being sure.
So they've added extremely unpleasant restrictions which will probably not help. Sounds like the government.

The TSA is trying to make us "feel" safer about air travel by making us jump through hoops and/or get groped by some college dropout/thug before boarding an aircraft. What nobody is talking about is the fact that REAL terrorists would not be caught by these measures; they have yet to use the same technique twice.
Israel, arguably the biggest terrorist target on Earth, does none of these ridiculous things and are much more thorough. They PROFILE and then question intensely any suspicious persons. Unfortunately, here in the states we are told by the Hand Wringers that profiling is discriminatory.
We know who the terrorists are, Muslim extremists. We know generally what they look like and what countries they are from or have visited. Why can't we take pictures of just their genitalia or grope only their breasts? Why must millions of grandmothers and toddlers remove their shoes only to be told by some drone that it is "procedure"?
Furthermore, if these drones are too busy looking for nail files and bottles of lotion more that a couple of ounces, how alert will they be to something truly out of the ordinary? The guy sweating like a goat, looking at his watch every 30 seconds with 12 stamps from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in the past 12 months in his passport and a pound of plastic explosives up his ass will sail right through.
What will our fearless leaders make us do to get on an airplane after that?
