Gore Admits To Being A Sleaze
He feels free to confess because that was then and this was now. From FoxNews.com, Gore is now reversing his view on Ethanol and blaming politics for his previous support:
Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore reportedly has had a change of heart on ethanol, telling a conference on green energy in Europe that he only supported tax breaks for the alternative fuel to pander to farmers in his home state of Tennessee and the first-in-the-nation caucuses state of Iowa.Speaking at a green energy business conference in Athens sponsored by Marfin Popular Bank, Gore said the lobbyists have wrongly kept alive the program he once touted.
Like you, they'll do anything to keep their job.
More from the piece:
The Media Research Center's Noel Sheppard noted that as vice president, Gore was the tie-breaking vote in 1994 when the Senate voted to authorize ethanol production. Sheppard said that those who question Gore's motives behind the climate change movement that landed the former vice president a Nobel prize and Oscar should also look to his comments on ethanol."So more than 10 years ago, Gore supported an expensive, 'not good policy' because he thought it would help him get elected president. Yet media don't believe he'd misrepresent the threat of manmade global warming in order to become extremely rich," Sheppard wrote Monday.

Ho hum.
Yet another "right wing wacko" assertion turns out to be true in the end. Amazing, ain't it?

It wasnt just right wing wackos cpabroker - it was everyone excluding left wing wackos.
Anyoine with half a brain could have figured out making ethonal from corn was a losing proposition.
Same with high fructose corn syrup, its all about the subsidies.

When a politician states a position, always ALWAYS look at where his money is, where his funds are coming from, and what his voting record is.
Anyone who did this for Gore would have found him to be a hypocrite in only 5 minutes of searching. His house was anything but "green", his travel methods produced more pollution in hours than any ordinary family produced in a year, (Private plane to some locations where he'd talk about going green, energy conservation, and global warming...HOW DID HE HAVE CREDIBILITY?!).
A look at Obama should have had anyone similarly concerned, hell he lost my vote when I heard his slogan. "Yes we can!" Its an open ended mean nothing statement designed to let voters read their own interpretations into it, and his record was almost blank to boot, this was a man who made a career of showing up.
Nothing of Gore's present confession should come as a surprise. That it does, shows how painfully unaware people can be to the obvious.

People who are taken in by this sort of nonsense ought to question their own judgement. As the lawyers say, "who benefits?" I'll add, "who pays?"

"Follow the money"
And when they say it isn't about the money, then it most assuredly is about the money.

I get so damn tired of hearing how brilliant Gore, Clinton, Obama etc... are. Never liked g Gore or any of them for that matter.
It is rumored that Bush has higher grades and SAT scores than Obama and Gore.
Moral of the story-Don't believe the hype!

I don't know what's funnier, Mr. No Controlling Legal Authority admitting that he manipulated the law for his own purposes, or the fact that the guy who pretty much defined zealotry for the 21st century is now saying he only did it to cop a feel, politically speaking. Remember, this is the guy whose house in Tennessee racks up a 22,000 kwh utility bill in an average month. I don't think I could use that much electricity if I tried.

One thing about it is a surprise to me... The fact that he did finally admit it. I figure he'd go down swinging.
Miguelitosd at November 24, 2010 8:06 AM
Surely this "revelation" does not surprise anyone. It's unfortunate, but farming interests, particularly those of Iowans, have a disproportionate influence in our politics. Particularly presidential politics. Anyone who wants to win the Iowa caucuses must pander to corn producers. Combine this with the skill at farming state Senators in using their positions to extract maximum federal dollars for the poor hardscrabble farms of massive multinationals, and you get the massive market distortions that can make even something as incredibly inefficient as corn ethanol "profitable."

"One thing about it is a surprise to me... The fact that he did finally admit it. I figure he'd go down swinging."
I'm sure he has an ulterior motive for making the admission. Note where he said this... in Greece. Now, Greece has a serious case of America Derangement Syndrome in its current culture. And, like the rest of western Europe, they hate American agribusiness and they are very protectionist towards their own farmers.

Don't just revel in the Gore being spattered here and there.
Learn about automotive issues - such as some of the fundamentals of how things work - HERE.
It gets a little messy in the discussion, but that should serve to illustrate just how little people in general know about something they use every day.

An Al Gore blast from the past - on a steamy summer day in DC, while he was inside giving his spiel about the evils of global warming & the need to conserve energy, he ordered his limo driver to keep his Town Car idling with the A/C on full blast:

How could anyone have ever had the slightest doubt that this guy was a charlatan?

Politician: I'm out of politics now. I can admit that I lied.
Reporter: What did you lie about?
Politician: Everything.
Truth About Political Lies
10/25/10 - Ed Driscoll presents Jerry Brown
A younger Jerry Brown finished his term as governor of California, and decided to tell the truth. Brown vigorously proclaims in a 35 second video clip that he lied about having plans to improve California. He says other big politicians are lying too, "Get real".
This shouldn't be news to anyone. Still, it is remarkable to hear a politician telling the direct truth. Jerry Brown was elected this month to again be governor of California.
Andrew_M_Garland at November 24, 2010 11:57 AM
Because, this time, he really does have a plan to fix California.
