Palestinian family sends mentally ill son to settlement in hope IDF shoots him
Boy caught near central West Bank settlement of Beit El, said family forced him at gunpoint to go to settlement in hopes he would be killed.

... and they caught family members nearby, too.
Unbelievable except that the report is from the left-leaning Ha'aretz newspaper - Israel's version of the Guardian:

Here's how it works, Ben-David. I know e-mail is hard, much like taking a hammer and chisel and chipping out a message on a cave wall, but when there's a link you want posted, you e-mail it to me, and I consider posting it.
If anyone DARES to try and take away my Irish coffee, I will hurt them. No lie.
You CANNOT legislate morality. I don't know how many people have to say this however many times, but it still CANNOT BE DONE. People are going to drink what they want when they want, and passing laws against it(?!?) ain't gonna stop 'em. You all know how well that worked with Prohibition, right?

I have more than once, on a cold Sunday morning, have made my coffee and added a nice dollop of Irish cream.
I have as yet to go "loko".
This again is another example of a nanny government using a hammer for personal bad behavior.

No, this is an example of nanny government deciding that you're too stupid to live your life, so they'll live it for you.
They start with a drink. By the time they're done, you don't even realize that you helped them put the chains on you.

I find the effects of mixing alcohol and caffeine to be very helpful, actually. At the end of my writing day yesterday, I needed to go a few extra hours, if I could, so I drank some coffee and poured myself a glass of sauvignon blanc. A glass. Because I am not 8, and thus control my alcohol intake in order to be productive rather than flat-on-my-ass drunk.
If a government literally bans things like this, can it really be said to be a legitimate government? I cannot rationally see how.

I was wondering if/when Amy would blog about this, as I've been following this story. I'm sick of the "for the children argument." The kids who were drinking this and going loko were not minors-they were under 21. They were drinking cans like they were beer and simply didn't know how to manage their alcohol. How is this any different than college students who go overboard with other alcoholic drinks?
I don't really care for 4loko because it tastes awful, but don't touch my Sparks

Yet another example of the federal government assuming that it has unlimited authority.

Didn't Drew Carey have "Buzz Beer"? Yeah, this concept has been around a LONG time. Hell, I've had Diet Coke and vodka before. It doesn't take a Rhodes Scholar to figure out that caffeine + alcohol = fun. Duh.
My mom (she's 75, bless her heart) was all up in arms about this a few weeks back. I laughed. I told her, "Look, this is nothing new, before this it was Red Bull and vodka, and quite frankly, I look upon it as Social Darwinism. Anyone stupid enough to do this to the point where they accidentally off themselves is at least removing the stupid from the gene pool."
Don't know where else to post this -

Sheesh. What a non-emergency.
