The comment about [praraphrasing] "While Halloween is one day a year they don't have to learn a whole routine." tells me how hypocritical the other side is.
They need to be addressed with the "What on earth is wrong with you? What kind of sick, perverted person are you?" comment from damaged a few days ago.
The whole reality TV and pageant thing with kids is about the parents. I don't think they should be exploiting the kids for it. The other half -- that is their choice and they will have to live with the results.
That is what freedom is about.

And yet even in the face of this its men thought to be the pedophiles
"Krystal" is very cute. If she is secure, is this exploitation? Does the term "exploitation" change if only parents are involved in promoting their daughter's appearance?

Sorry. Having young girls pose for the camera or onstage like that in any way provocatively is WRONG. There is NO WAY in hell I would encourage either of my daughters to do this. As my younger one just said, "It's not like I would want to do that anyway. It's stupid and flat out wrong. I feel so bad for the little girls who do that. They're young; they don't really know anything different; they're too young to understand that it's not about what their sick mothers want." (She herself just typed that)

Rad, that site is putting that girl out there as fresh meat for pedophiles -- although they say that's not the purpose in the opening page...of course. Somebody's taught...what, an 8-year-old to be sexy...there are lots of crotch shots and one of her ass in panties peeking out a short dress. Utterly vile.
Please note that I brought the CNN piece to attention - because it addresses a bunch of things tough to address in American law - and ordinary, "decent" society. Google can find the boundaries of good taste in, as they say, "0.192 seconds", returning Krystal's picture in, of all things, a search run after a Bad Astronomy topic.
When Ed Meese was the US Attorney General, he was directed to find a "link" between sex crime and "pornography" - here in quotes because then, as now, it's been difficult to define. He couldn't do it. Playboy did not contribute to sexual assault.
I think there's consensus that the term "sex offender" is being misused - in cases where somebody's girlfriend is within a couple of years of age. There is also a big difference between a picture and a real person.
When do you have to duty to intervene? When can we tell these amazing artists they're criminals - or just that they ought to stop?
I know a 22-year-old woman personally who is a wonderful wit, cute to boot and all of four feet tall and maybe 85 pounds. Would she be a criminal to wear pigtails and jelly shoes, because that would "encourage" a pedophile?
The Tucson Shooter didn't shoot because of Sarah Palin, right? Consistency check: does that mean that Joe Pedobear abducts his next victim because of Newstar Krystal - a fictional character?
Note that I am clear on the concept of protecting individuals and their rights. My own daughter is an Oh-my-Gawd beauty who has turned heads her whole life, and I have been clear on the concept of developing her life as a person, not as a lumber camp toy.
But this subject has still not been defined well in law, as we can see by the continuing infantilization of youth and some really stupid prosecutions.
I hope "Krystal" lives a wonderful life considerably less eventful than Nora Louise Kuzma's, and I suggest that she and her site will have significantly less adverse impact than, say, Jenny McCarthy's.

The part that got me was the mom getting her kid's eyebrows waxed - after explaining WHY the girl is so terrified (some of her skin got burned/pulled off during a previous waxing session), the mom then very calmly watches her daughter shrieking in terror before saying (again, very calmly) that she would just hold her daughter down and just rip the tape off...
Mom knew why her daughter was scared, knew that the daughter had no particular reason to trust she wasn't going to be hurt again like last time (aside from the simple pain of waxing), and just didn't care.
To me, that's far worse than the usual pageant mom you see on these shows trying to live vicariously through a 2-year-old...

My favorite Kenny Powers quote: "Sure, I’ve been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I’m not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren’t as good. That used to be called patriotism."

The American public is clearly schizophrenic when it has anything to do with sex.
And in denial about it.
