Wow, that's classy. I wonder what would happen if you touched the trinkets on the dashboard. When I volunteered for a charity, selling bingo tickets in the bingo hall, the little old ladies would attempt to gnaw off your hands if you so much as glanced at their good luck charms.

That's highly groovy.

I take it the VW van finally died.

Ah, art cars... We quite a few around Austin, too. The one I see most often has a Barbie riding a toy alligator where the hood ornament would go.

Love art cars. I've also seen a Volvo around painted with big leopard spots. I was going somewhere with Gregg, and he turned before I could get a picture of it.

Cool. There used to be a Cadillac here in my town covered with hundreds of Plastic Jesus figures on the outside.
I think he was trying to carry the message by getting people to comment on his car.

I so miss Californistan! The most interesting cars around DC are Minis with personalized plates. Bleh.

There is a car in my town that is an old "pinto" style model (I'm a girly girl and don't really know car models), and it's adorned with a newspaper box scoop, a wooden spoiler, and a giant Yuban coffee can for an oversized muffler, among other things. Wish I had a picture of it.

There's a guy in our neighborhood (or used to be) that ran a mobile auto detailing business. He had a minivan (I think an Aerostar) with so many figurines/action figures in it that he couldn't really move. It was practically molded around the driver's seat and there was no room at all for a passenger. I always figured if he ever got into even a small accident, he was going to be seriously injured by those things and was actually surprised it was street legal like that.
Should've gotten a pic of it before he moved. The was a guy who was always a tad "slow"... he was in his 50's and still lived in his parent's home; well until the kids finally had to sell it about a year ago. They'd HELOC'd it up to the max in a brilliant move and then lost the home their parent's had been original owners of and had long since paid off. My grandparents (who are original owners next door) were almost glad the parents had already died so they didn't see that happen to their home.

I once parked next to Feynmann's VW bus. How did I know? It had Feynmann diagrams painted all over it! (Which are a kind of quantum theoretical way of enumerating the infinite set of things that could possibly happen next... I think). Closest I'll ever get to a Nobel!

Met Harrod Blank at a recent art gig in NYC - he's got the goods on art cars in his film AUTOMORPHOSIS. My pal Hoop is in the film...
