Are We Impressed? Or Even Interested?
Loved this dumb tweet from @NBCLA:
Royalty Alert: The Prince Consort Henrik of Denmark is visiting California in June.
I tweeted back:
Amy Alkon will be visiting Westwood on Sunday.

My spine is too stiff to bow down to anybody who thinks they are better than I am due to an accident of birth.

Then Howard, it's a good thing we don't practice bowing to one another in this country, because just about everyone here thinks they're better than someone else due to an accident of birth, whether by color of skin, ethnicity, religion or whatever.

I'll be visiting Massachusetts in June.

It's 7:52 pm here. Any sign of Christ yet?
DaveG at May 21, 2011 4:53 PM
You've got it backward, Dave. If you're still here, you weren't raptured.
I wasn't either, but my kids gave me some beer for my birthday. Second place isn't so bad.
MarkD at May 21, 2011 7:50 PM
Being Prince consort isn't even an accident of birth, it's who he f**ks. I couldn't give a flying, flaming rat's ass who Denmark is sending our way...Unless they gave me a NEW CAR! Or a pony. I'd take a pony. I'm siped out from packing my billionth box to move, so you will please excuse the randomness.

Love that. Actually, Jesus used to work on my Rambler.

I'm not exactly a royalty watcher, but there are a couple of interesting facts about the British monarchy. A week ago, Queen Elizabeth became the second-longest reigning monarch in British history, behind only Victoria. The one she passed? George III, the same one who presided over the American Revolution.
The Queen has over four years to go to catch Victoria. I wouldn't bet against her, but even if she only goes half of that, and Charles takes over, he'll be the oldest person ever to assume the British throne.

Oh, and speaking of ponies, loved this Claire Berlinski tweet:

Mark,
I'll concede that point - I'm a nonbeliever, but I thought I knew Revelations. Doesn't Jesus come down to handle luggage or something?
DaveG at May 22, 2011 7:01 AM
Actually, Jesus is my husband's boss, and looks a lot like Vin Diesel. Makes me drool just thinking about it.....
Kat at May 22, 2011 7:36 AM
I'm going to Home Depot today.
