Who Isn't A Sex-Offender These Days?
Don't be taking pictures of your daughter figure-skating in Troy, New York. Prohibited! Because of a new policy at an arena there, instituted to protect children from pedophiles. (Daughter's first axel? Sorry, parents. Do your best to commit it to memory.)
A man in England on a walk saw children building sand castles and took a picture. "An hour later, he was reported to the police and arrested," per website SOL Research: Look Who's A Sex-Offender Now!
More from the link:
Look at children in public? You're a sex offender.Florida, 2007. An unidentified man was questioned by police after he spent more than an hour watching a children's karate class.
Turned out he was thinking of enrolling his kids.
New York City, 2005. Sandra Catena took a break from her dance lessons and sat down in the park. She was given a ticket by police for violating a law designed to keep out pedophiles -- that adults are not allowed in the park without children.
Another:
Kiss your naked baby? You're a sex offender.North Carolina, 2005. Charbel Hamaty spent six months in prison for kissing his naked baby on the belly button. His wife was also arrested and she was denied contact with their children for several months for taking a picture of the "abuse."
Another:
Teenager taking naked pictures of yourself or your sweetheart? You're a sex offender.Pennsylvania. A 13-year-old girl is on the sex offender registry for life because she took pictures of herself naked.

> Charbel Hamaty spent six months in
> prison for kissing his naked baby
> on the belly button.
Did he smear his reeking bun-stink on the child's face while his friends laughed, or anything like that?
Sorry, but I had to ask... 'Cause it could have just been a prank, y'know?

Pedophile solution - bribe a kid with a bag of candy so he'll sit next to you. Then you're safe. Win-win!
Who the hell writes these laws? Or thinks they'll do any good?

Told ya. Common sense has gone the way of the dodo.

So, where are adults supposed to sit in nature, if it's not in the free parks in which they pay for. I'm a parent, and yes, I think it's creepy that people stare at my children, but I keep an eye on my kid and unless he's stalking him, he's just a guy.
So, I was watching Real Housewives of New Jersey, and I know a lot of you aren't the target audience, but my point is that they had this very cute scene where all of the kids took a Christmas picture together (about seven kids under the age of ten). It was so adorable. Since I was staring at children, does that mean I'm a pedophile? What about all of the other viewers of the show?

Saturday my 4 year old son went on a 'first playdate' with this adorable girl at the park. It was the CUTEST THING EVER watching my son trip over himself to impress his new girlfriend. I'm told she spent the next day talking to him on her play cell phone (good thing she didn't send any inappropriate imaginary texts). Anyway the playdate eventually moved to the creek where the kids got drenched and we had to strip down to undies.
We were there for 3 hours, it was the Awesomest park date we've ever had. It was one of my favorite days ever, and I have no pictures to commemorate it because even with one parent of each child present there is no way in hell I'm taking a picture of kids in their underwear.
Meanwhile there was a truck parked in front of the playground for about a half hour with the engine running. I'm assuming he was just enjoying the A/C but I do think it's sad that if I were taking picture of my own kid, I could be the suspect rather than the weirdo idling by the park.

What does it matter crid? Aftr all from what I could gather from your rants about the 'prank', the lack of sexual intent wasnt germanie to their punishment
So why should the lack of sexual intent be germanine to the punishment this guy recived? Why should intent, age, or circumstance matter to the treatment that any of them recived?
The law is the law right? They all deserve what they got as the "should have known" of the possible consequences to their actions, right?

Keep chewin' away at that morality thang, "lujlp"!
Crid [CridComment at gmail] at July 26, 2011 6:36 PM
Nope, not morality Crid
Consequences, remember, you're the one who said there must be consequences.
Here are some of your quotes
Age 14 is waaay old for forgiveness of sexual misconduct, especially of males,
They didn't KNOW there would be consequences. For themselves. How are they supposed to do what's right if they don't know there will be consequences?
We need them punished
Who cares if the punishmnet are over reaction overbearing and do nothing to protect society right?
There Must Be CONSEQUENCES - So Sayeth The Blogmighty Crid
CONSEQUENCES

Unfortunately the fact that you suspiciously perceive the driver of a random truck idling by a random park as a 'weirdo' makes you part of the problem, and that shows just how deeply this crap has crept into our collective psyches :/ Seriously, there must be tens of thousands of idling trucks every single day, there are many reasons why truck drivers legitimately idle their vehicles ... seriously, google it.

Because there is NO moral difference in a father blowing rasberries on his delighted infant, and a 14 year old pinning down and sexually assaulting a 12 year, right luj? Right?
momof4 at July 26, 2011 9:34 PM
When it was not a sexual assult but a nonsexual assult, yes there is no difference as far as sex crimes are concerned

Lob, it was a chevy silverado, I've been employed as an actual 18-wheel truck driver. Sorry I was unclear, the guy was basically sitting in his running car talking on the phone or something. I wasn't really watching because I'm not the type of paranoid you think I am. I'm not afraid of the bogeyman, I'm afraid of being accused of being the bogeyman.
As an aside, there are less and less idling trucks these days. My fleet trucks shut the engine off after 9 minutes unless ancillary equipment is drawing load and Espar heaters are replacing idling in over the road trucks.

Thank you. Sometimes trucks idle near my house and if the wind is blowing right, we suck some nasty fumes (my neighbors and I).

Umm, what's next?
My daughter's a gorgeous adult, but still my daughter. Can I take pictures of her, or is that incestuous?
At what age was I supposed to be permitted by a government official to do what *I* wanted - take a picture of her?
Am I a criminal automatically because she ran out of the bathroom at age 6 to get a towel?
-----
This is an extension of the pressure to remove responsibility from the public altogether, to hand it to a government official, who knows better than you do.
