Gotta love those Soviet emigres - the staunchest free-market conservatives on the planet.
The leftie progressives in Israel threw the gates open to Soviets with even the most tenuous connection to the Jewish people - hoping that they'd function as a counterweight to rising blocs of traditional/religious and free-market/capitalist voters.
They didn't figure that these folks had had enough of socialism, or that they'd be defense hawks when living in tiny Israel.
Heh.

OT—
Fitzgerald: The rich are different than you and me.
Hemingway: Yes... They have more money.

I have been to the Soviet Union. The coup happened the day after I left. Even now, I wonder if it was something I said. It was, by no small distance, the worst place I have ever been.
As for the subject, I am pleased (as if my attitude makes the tiniest difference), that she is living out her years here, rather than there.

Hah!! I love that.
Did I ever tell you about the day I arrived in Papua New Guinea? All they know about American civilization is what they see in action movies... They think this happens in Los Angeles all the time. (To help you read between the lines of this sketchy report: The police shot the helicopter out of the sky in the nation's capital at high noon on a weekday... Because the bank being robbed was next door to the police station.)

For Gregg, who probably already knows that his new iPhone's "exif" data accompanies his .jpg:
