How Green Is Obama's Chinese Valley?
Obama talked big talk on all the green jobs he created -- and it seems he lied. Hans Bader writes at Examiner.com:
There are only 140,000 jobs in the whole renewable-energy sector, but in a new ad, Obama is taking credit for a "clean energy industry" that has "2.7 million jobs." Obama inflated the number of "clean-energy" jobs by adding people who have nothing to do with clean-energy, like "trash collectors" and bureaucrats. By inflating the total, Obama was able to paper over his complete failure to live up to his utterly unrealistic campaign promise "to create 5 million new green jobs." Most of America's existing green jobs predate the Obama Administration, which did not create them: "from 2003-2010, the rate of growth for clean jobs was 3.4 percent."Indeed, the Obama Administration used federal green-jobs money to outsource American jobs to countries like China: "Despite all the talk of green jobs, the overwhelming majority of stimulus money spent on wind power has gone to foreign companies, according to a new report by the Investigative Reporting Workshop" at American University. "79 percent" of all green-jobs funding "went to companies based overseas," with the largest payment going to a bankrupt Australian company. "Most of the jobs are going overseas," said Russ Choma at the Investigative Reporting Workshop.
Obama's mythical green-jobs are like other imaginary jobs he claimed to have created with the $800 billion stimulus package. The Obama Administration took credit for jobs created in 440 non-existent Congressional districts, such as Arizona's 15th and 86th districts (Arizona only had 8 Congressional districts, as ABC News noted with amusement). The Washington Examiner noted that at least "75,000 jobs" Obama has claimed credit for are "clearly imaginary" or "highly doubtful." Readers can view its interactive map of "Inflated Jobs by State."
Anybody "hoping for change" about now?
Note about a disappeared comment on this entry focusing on marriage and advertising another site: A guy here who has posted as both Tim and Toad in the past three days thinks he can use my site to post off-topic comments advertising another site (probably his blog).
He's been warned about this on the other two occasions and had the advertising bits removed from those comments, with the rest of the text preserved. Three strikes, baby, and you're out.
If you want to advertise your blog or some other blog on mine, buy ads, don't steal them. That's sleazy, like Obama's lying above, and while I am a free speech site -- happily providing free speech for assholes and others -- I don't provide free advertising. This sleazebag has now been banned.

Good for you, Amy. It's your site so you can do as you damn please. One of your predecessors in the advice business used to say"Noone can take advantage of you without your permission." Truer words were never spoken.

They're shooting a movie next to my house and were doing some neighborhood-abusing things too boring to detail. I called the production manager and chewed him out and told them they'd have to stop. He said "Nobody in the neighborhood likes you." The truth is, those who try to bully my neighbors and me have a hard time thanks to me. And "nobody" is the soap opera actress next door, who was throwing loud parties with people singing at the top of their lungs to a guitar until 3am...feet away from my house and three other neighbors (split lots, so there are two houses on each lot adjoining hers). My neighbors have been very upset but are a bit meek and I was the one to let her know that the loud late parties weren't going to fly. (The first time, I just knocked on her fence and said, "A little late to be this loud!" and she gave me lip about it when I saw her...how horrible that I would knock on her fence and say something [apparently we were all just supposed to lie in bed sleepless]). I mentioned this to my landlord (not to have him do anything, just because he deals with assholes in his neighborhood), and he said, "Just call the cops next time." Heh.

From the numbers I've seen, the few jobs that have been created are being subsidized at about 10x what the employee is actually paid. Where is the rest of the money going? It's not clear to me if it's being siphoned off by company insiders, or is going back to the government to pay off the bureaucracy. Maybe a bit of both. Anyway, I'll bet that 10x number is going up now that hundreds of millions are being lost in bankruptcies and loan forgiveness.
