A male version of Susan Boyle, and at least this time that prick Simon deigned to join in the standing ovation.
Thanks for linking it, Amy.

Wow. Amazing. World class voice.
Am wondering whether Jonathan's voice teacher deliberately encouraged him to go onstage in very casual clothes and not take any pains to gussy up his looks, based upon what had happened with Susan Boyle. The contrast between an initial frumpy appearance and awe inspiring talent gives rise to such a reversal of expectation that I believe it creates a greater impact than showing up immaculately groomed. (I heard that Barbara Streisand used a different variation of the same ploy on her initial tryouts, taking gum out of her mouth as she started to sing and putting it under her seat - later it was discovered that there was no gum; it was all an act to ensure that she was remembered.)
At any rate, I wish this marvelous young man all the best.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was listening on headphones. My husband came in to see what I was sniffling about and watched it with me. What a career this young man has in front of him.

I loved his Hendrix T-shirt! Jimiiiii!!!!!!!
Resented the implication that she is "holding him back," though. It's clearly the opposite.
