I read once that these dryers are worst place in a public restroom to pick up germs. The heat from the drier is like a little bacteria colony and then it spews them all over your hands. I shake dry when those are my only option. Yuck.

If that was what happened, then a woman from a country where millions live in terrible poverty would have earned some much-needed money, and no one would have been the wiser, including you & Leon.

Nope, it's news because some scumbags with contempt for prostitutes thought they could treat one like garbage and not pay her and get away with it. Criminalization of prostitution conditioned them to think of hookers as nothing but criminals, and they never imagined a worthless whore would have the wherewithal to pick herself up and go after them through the courts.
