Bend Over, And Then Bend Over Again
Erik Wasson writes for The Hill that Democrats in the Senate have backed an increase in one-way fees for passengers to pay for a shortfall in the department of ball- and vagina-gropers formally known as the TSA:
The Senate Appropriations Committee on Tuesday moved forward with legislation to increase airline passenger security fees, beating back a GOP attempt to keep them at current levels. The 2013 Homeland Security appropriations bill would increase one-way fees for passengers from $2.50 to $5 in order to close a budget shortfall at the Transportation Security Administration.
Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) said the $315 million in funding would otherwise come from taxpayers and argued it is better to stick passengers who rely on TSA with the bill.
How about the idea that it's better to disband this agency that has not found a single terrorist but has done a wonderful job of priming Americans to be kitten-like in the face of being told to give up their constitutional rights?

They coulda been heroes by discussing TSA overreach and then mandating programs like VIPR be cut out due to the budget shortfall.
But no, they went for fee increase.
Simply amazing.

Who exactly does the senator think is going to be paying this hike? Pirates? Either way the taxpayers are paying for them.

At least Landrieu see this as a usage thing rather than making everyone pay...
But. The doublespeak is deafening. I saw a piece tiht LaHood the other day where he talked about the MI6, and other intel efforts outside the US, and how they made sure nothing happened on inbound flights, AND THEN he said that : see, everyone who is being groped in the US should just STFU because that is security.
Um, gee, IdiotBoy, has any of that stuff happened INSIDE the US? Wouldn't it be better to make sure that it never gets here? And Oh, yes, AREN'T we already doing that? Show me proof that they do anything but enrich certain politicians, and well connected people, while keeping the sheeple calm and compliant.
Bah.

But the TSA is branching out... trains in NY, highways in Tennessee, grocery stores soon enough. I supposed there will soon be a TSA grocery tax for the latter. Gotta protect us against exploding cantaloupes!

Everyone needs to read the TSA Blog about their Congressional briefing on the uselessness of the TSA.

For all you regular readers of the Goddess' blog you can skip past this post. I'm going to post my regular rant about not needing the TSA. For all you new readers, please read it carefully and refute any statement or misstatement. ;-)

The TSA was not needed one hour and one minute after Tower II was hit!
The paradigm, the norm, the expected, what everyone was taught to do was to sit down, shut up and wait for the plane to land and the negotiations happen. That was the model from Entebbe onward.
The passengers on board did not really know what was about to happen on September 11, 2001 at 8:46:30 when Flight 11 struck Tower I.
Even the passengers on Flight 175 probably didn't realize what was about to happen when they struck Tower II at 9:03:02.
The Pentagon crash of Flight 77 at 9:37:46 may have been still a matter of ignorance.
At 10:03:11 on September 11, 2001, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed after the brave souls counter-attacked and caused the hijackers to crash the plane.
The time difference is 60 minutes and 9 seconds from Tower II being struck to the crash of Flight 93. The shoe bomber and panty bomber were taken down by fellow passengers as well. Recently, JetBlue's Flight 191 pilot was taken down by the passengers once he was out of the cockpit. Additionally how many times have you heard of passengers' concerns and diverted flights?
The TSA is and has always been a joke, no make that a total stupidity, that has wasted our country's fortune going down a rabbit hole.
If you don't believe me look at the 9/11 timeline.
There will never be another 9/11 style attack unless the attackers can arrange planes full of geriatrics, and even then it would be doubtful.
If I'm getting this wrong, please let me know.Jim P. at May 23, 2012 11:25 PM
Kitten-like? You've obviously never met any of our cats (young OR old) when you tried to make them do something against their will...

One of our brilliant talking heads needs to do a Belushi-style commentary on this, complete with apoplectic fit.
I nominate Brian Williams.
