Barack Obama Is No Mr. Ordinary American
I saw this tweet from NYT managing ed Jim Roberts:
@nytjim Contrasting images of class. Obama at a diner. Romney on a powerboat. Smart piece by @dickstevenson. http://nyti.ms/NdShbt
Barack Obama may not have the wealth of Romney, but he's no ordinary wage-earning American. A while back, I took note of the bit in this piece -- not at all the point of the story -- about how they had a private chef when they lived in Chicago.
Gregg and I also know a family with a private chef. They also have their own jet.
The Obamas are not that wealthy. But, they are also not like most of us in terms of their earnings and benefits. A photo op in a diner doesn't change that.

Party loyalty begins at home, dammit.

Why would a Capital or Private Equity firm move a company that is profitable overseas?
Maybe because building a brand new factory in China would cost 50% as much as rebuilding the factory in the U.S. How about hiring non-union employees in China would be 25% of the payroll cost of keeping the factory in Ohio?
What if you are only taxed at 10% for your profits in China instead of 25-35% in the U.S.?
How much did the unions, investmenent and other pensions make from investing funds with Bain Capital?
Why would you trust someone to be in charge of your country that never even ran a small business? How about failing to run a household on a budget?
So Romney was born rich and has gotten even richer? That makes it a great country.
Obama my have been born poor, but hang out with the good leftists like Soros and Ayers and you may make your way through life fairly comfortably.

"Barack Obama may not have the wealth of Romney"...but he will after he leaves office. Bill Clinton made more money last year than did Boeing CEO Jim McNerney.
And while he is *in* office, Obama has benefits...such as unlimited use of Air Force One...that a Romney or a McNerney could never afford.

Excuse them all to pieces, Amy, for being successful lawyers. Maybe for the next election, you could write in the cashier at your local Starbucks.

Ah, but you must remember the narrative. Being wealthy is Evil unless you are a Hollywood celebrity or a Democrat, but I repeat myself.
