Okay, it's Friday, and I guess that makes me a little more fuddle-headed than usual, but I have this image of Our Gracious Hostess with red tentacles extending from her head, turning on the stove, adjusting the blender, pouring coffee, all at once!
But what exactly was the impetus for this blog post?

Amy, I can't post a link right now, but if/when you get a free moment, Google "Medusa Marvel Comics" (not as one single phrase, though). I think that's what you're aiming for.

Isn't she the one that if you look at her you turn to stone?
That's very unsightly and causes a need for cleanup.
If I could, I'd own an alien ray gun. I don't want to hurt anyone. But, if they're playing one of those house-foundation-shaking megabass car stereos, I would like to disintegrate them.
Nahhhh...in the original Greek, Perseus sees Medusa, asks her if she wants to get stoned, and then she and Perseus get it on.......and Medusa opens a head shop.
But that isn't heroic, so the myth got changed.

As opposed to the current state of controlling your hair with appliances, eh?

Ahem.
You DO control appliances with the blaze. As I recall, the servo part of that remote control is called, "Gregg"!
But of course! What other color could she have with a power like that?

The one in Greek mythology did, but the Marvel Comics version "possesses the psychokinetic ability to animate her hair for a number of feats, including elongating it to almost twice its normal length...and using her hair to lift and move heavy weights....Through concentration, she can psionically move her hair in any manner imaginable." Perfect for Amy.

I used to read a lot of Sci-fi pulp fiction, the ones that are written by committee and published under one pseudonym, because I was a voracious reader and regular authors couldn't keep up with me. One of those series was Deathlands, a post-apocalypse world gone mad serial, with the following char:
Krysty Wroth: A skilled and talented combatant and markswoman. She is a valued member of the companions' party for both her natural fighting abilities and her limited "feely" (precognitive) abilities. Her most notable characteristic is her long red, semi-sentient animated hair as a result of her mutation.
Seems to be a theme in the comic/scifi/anime world, yes? You never see a brunette thwacking the baddies into submission with their magnificent manes!

And that, my dear friends, is why Superman should have married Lana Lang.
So what is stopping you?

These are not exactly appliances, but they are contolled by your brainwaves, and they are super cute.
