Left, Right And Psycho

Agreed. I'd love it if people wouldn't put on their left-right, redstate-bluestate glasses at all. These days someone could post a picture of a puppy licking a kitten and people would be scrutinizing it for political subtext.

To wit, Amy, consider the FASCINATING correction at the end of this article:
How could a factual news report about a court hearing have included such an error?I'll tell you how.
It happened because for twenty years (since I've been here) and probably sixty before, the Los Angeles Times has been obsessed about viewing events as a product of psychological states. I have never, never seen one front page of that newspaper that didn't include at least one headline mentioning or describing some interior condition... Almost always one of feeling.
And, Amy? Amy? You do this too. You love to describe the thinking of those who disagree without about gay marriage or the environment (etc.) in pornographic (and entirely fictional) detail. They're all sexual cowards because of religion because of reasons.

Seriously... Seekers... I implore you...
Consider the inanity of this tweet from an hour ago:
Try to consider a bigger picture here.
Fun is made of Twitter for being scattered and shallow. A best joke from a tech investor goes "We were promised flying cars; instead, we got 140 characters." That's worth a deep chuckle.
But it doesn't sting, because there's a lot of information in life –including pointers to richer information– for which 140 characters is plenty. Time and again, especially in local and global crises, Twitter has proven to be a wonderful resource for blowing chaff away from facts (and insight) that can help us move forward.
So what does the Los Angeles Times want to do with this tool, the first great communications revolution in a century promising so many more?
It wants to keep you up-to-date on someone's fantasies.
Well, up-to-date on speculation about someone's fantasies. A troubled guy's fantasies, at that; Someone whose procedural circumstance is in no respect urgent.
The Los Angeles Times thinks you're moving through your day with such howling curiosity about psychology that you'll want to know when a new speculation about his fantasies is collected.
That you'll want your phone to beep, in a meeting, when they have a new one.
And perhaps that you'll be told as soon as there's another. (Well have to wait and see!)

Thank you, Amy. I'm tired of seeing things that aren't remotely political being blamed on one side or the other. Every time a bird craps on a windshield there's a huge debate over whether this is Obama's fault or a Tea Party plot. Please. Humans would be screwing things up just fine if political parties didn't exist.

"It wants to keep you up-to-date on someone's fantasies."
It's not doing half the job you are on yours!

But sometimes you have clue of what's going on in the psychopaths head:
Cops: Suspect in FRC shooting volunteered at Washington LGBT center
I suspect that he had issues with the Family Research Center and the general stance of many Christians with the LGBT community.

The link was still on my desktop after the last one. Fascinated with this passage:

Whoops, that article wasn't even for the last one; it was for the one before that.

I'll note that when the violence comes from the left, there doesn't seem to be a cacaphony of outrage from the Usual Suspects.
Reminds me of a hound that does not bark.

I'm not sure that I'm ready to make nice, after the last two weeks. After all, it was only a month ago that the Southern Poverty Law Center publicly denounced the FRC as a hate group. I'll be curious to see if the shooter had any connection with the SPLC. It is a stated goal of the Left to bring the full force of government to bear to suppress their political opponents.

Yes.
