Paul Ryan: Lacking In Marital Diversity, Says "Mother Jones"
Saw this tweet:

Mother Jones complains that Paul Ryan married a thin blonde. How dare he not diversify with an overweight mixed-race gay marriage!
Here's the Mother Jones piece, "Paul Ryan: Frattiest Veep Candidate Ever," by Asawin Suebsaeng:
8. His wife:You know the perception folks have about dudes in fraternities: That they suck down expensive cigars by the case, vote Republican, and only chase after the thin, blonde, white, right-wing, pretty girls?
For the record, Paul Ryan's wife Janna is blonde, thin, conservative, white, and a former cigar lobbyist:
(I don't steal photos, so you'll have to go to Mother Jones to see her picture by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Chris Wilson in their piece.)
Their bit on her continues:
To top things off, Ryan proposed to her at one of his favorite fishing spots: Big St. Germain Lake in Vilas County, Wisconsin. (The happy couple have been known to kill wildlife together, side-by-side.)
That is disturbing to have to do the whole deal, killing your food and all. I prefer mine to be delivered to me with a side of asparagus on fine china.

Heh. I love the fact that he's a hunter.

Everyone becomes agog with Michelle Obama during the 08 Run, and suddenly it is not in fashion to have an attractive wife? Wow. I still remember the NYT PONTIFICATING about the President's sex life and how they probably enjoy it.
This is just stupid beyond belief. Yeah, he's not on your team. I get it. Why don't you try something a little less lazy, like the issues as opposed to his marriage. Get a clue.
Rliyen at August 16, 2012 10:10 AM
Isn't Joe Biden's wife blonde? But that's okay, because she's liberal.
Doug at August 16, 2012 10:14 AM
Wouldn't it be great if we could vote seperately for the President, Vice-president, First Lady, and (I guess the term would be) Second Lady? It would be great to see Romney shacked up with Michelle for four years.

Hillary, while not attractive imho, is/was blonde. So were many of Clinton's side-dishes.
Blonde is the choice of many women, whether they are born with it or not, no one even bothers to notice til now? This is the biggest "thing" they can find to throw at Ryan, the fact that a hot, rich, intelligent guy has a hot, blonde, skinny, probably intelligent wife?
*chucklesnort* Methinks the Obama Eau De Desperation is getting pretty thick, like a green cloud over the beltway.

I don't know how familiar Amy is with Miami University, but something like 85% of its students are involved in Greek life. The frat boy attack is just silly and petty.

"Everyone becomes agog with Michelle Obama"
For the record, I became a Gog long before Michelle Obama was on the scene.
As for the articles, meh. I give them about as much weight as the current swift-boating attempt the neo-con whiners are making on Obama's success taking out OBL.
Just more grist for the 24/7 newsnoise mill.
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at August 16, 2012 12:19 PM
What a pathetic article. Pure ad hominem. Perhaps actually discussing the issues would be above the author's intellectual level?

I don't know how familiar everyone is with Oxford, Ohio. I spent a week there one day.
If were a student at Miami U., I'd join as many social organizations as would have me.

Let's be fair, though...they ain't thin. Thin is perhaps more important than blonde, here. We're allowed and encourage to hate skinny women, even when they're not blonde (Sarah Palin) and snark about how they stay so thin (didn't really carry her youngest baby, abuses diet aids, works out to the point of neglecting her family and work).
Really, the media is beyond pissed that they can't really let loose on Ann Romney---blonde, white, thin, beautiful, rich AND she has too many kids AND she stayed home with them!---because of that pesky MS thing. So Janna Ryan will have to do. Never mind that Janna Ryan looks pretty much exactly like Jill Biden (younger version) physically and has a similar life story (as far as I know) with having a successful career that required a lot of advanced education. Janna does seem to have best taste in men and hobbies, though. Same story second verse---if Janna Ryan were a democrat/married to a democrat she'd be a feminist role model. But, since she's a republican she will be portrayed by the "pro-woman" media as a bimbo, a golddigger a layabout and every other anti-woman cliche they have festering in their brains.

wait for it.
Is a blond. And pretty Schmokin' hot too.
and our friend Joe, was also a jock football player all through his highschool and college...
and somehow this iz teh MATTERS!!!1111!!111
OI. They are people, and people live lives, and they are not particularly free of life's little calling cards.
And you use a sophomoric attack when you are a wise fool... instead of laying out all the ways you can't agree.
All I know is that there are a number of people on the left that are having a hard time with Ryan based on him being too good looking and too young. I suppose it's hard to demonize someone when your skirts are in a bunch, but htey will try.

"Isn't Joe Biden's wife blonde? But that's okay, because she's liberal."
Exactly. Democrats and liberals have no internalized standards - no sense of right and wrong, good and bad. To a liberal, whether or not something someone says or does is right or wrong, good or evil, depends not on the nature of the words or deeds themselves, but on who says or does them.

The position "Wife of the President" has progressed to "First Lady" and now to "Senate candidate and First Lady" (via Bill and Hillary). Being the President's wife is now an advisory position and a political stepping stone. Michelle Obama has a staff of 18 (Laura Bush had 15).
( usgovinfo.about.com/od/thepresidentandcabinet/a/Michelle-Obama-Staff-Size-Salaries.htm )
Considering the importance of this position to our country, it should not result from the happenstance of who the President chose to marry when he was politically less important. Plus, everyone agrees that the family should be left out of political discussion, although the leftists press can't control themselves.
So, the President should be allowed and expected to choose an official, political First Lady and Advisor (or Leading Man, for a female President). We could freely criticize the correctness and competence of the President's choice, and the advice provided by this official First Lady. The President's family could enjoy the benefits of truly being in the background.
Of course, there would be no requirement that the President have sex with the official First Lady. We can only wonder what a sufficiently PC version would look like.

When it comes to marriage, fratties who are Republicans may prefer kindred political spirits but I highly doubt they'd turn down a chance to fuck an extreme lefty, as long as she's hot.

By the way, Obama/Biden will beat Romney/Ryan. The margin will be slim, but they'll win.

The one that I could see is Obama winning the popular vote but Romney getting the Electoral College.
Everyone knows that California is going to Obama regardless of the Republican/Independent/Libertarian vote. So 60% of the popular vote goes to Obama. So Amy and crowd splits the other 40% of the vote for Johnson and Romney. But then Texas goes 51% Romney, etc. So Obama has the popular vote, but Romney has the Electoral College. That would be interesting.
As for Mother Jones view -- that is just dumb.

You did it before it was cool, man.
As for Mother Jones: Whatever. It's election season. Publications need to fill space and broadcast needs to fill minutes. We've seen lots of moronic stuff from both sides and we'll continue to see more.

Check this chart of the pinpointed distribution of the unemployed and compare with your idea of the upcoming vote.
