The Stupidest Post Ever By Will Saletan
Found via a tweet by @joshgreenman:
Will Saletan convinces the rioters to relax (if they read Slate and are susceptible to, you know, reason).
The ridiculousness starts with the lead-in:
Dear Muslims, Christians, Hindus, and Jews,You're living in the age of the Internet. Your religion will be mocked, and the mockery will find its way to you. Get over it.
If you don't, what's happening this week will happen again and again. A couple of idiots with a video camera and an Internet connection will trigger riots across the globe. They'll bait you into killing one another.
Come on, why be "inclusive"?
I tease a Christian friend about believing in god. He teases me about not believing in god.
I mock the ridiculousness of circumcision with some regularity.
I have no fear that some Schlomo Glickstein and his mob of yeshiva students are going to drag me out of my house, rape me, and murder me for it.
Islam COMMANDS the death of those who mock Islam, Allah, or Mohammed, be they infidels or Muslims. (And the death of infidels in general, along with the installation of The New Caliphate around the globe. And you can probably guess that TNC won't be democratic or very nice to women, gays, or those not worshipping Allah.)
Saletan continues:
The hatred and bloodshed will go on until you stop taking the bait. Mockery of your prophet on a computer with an Internet address somewhere in the world can no longer be your master. Nor can the puppet clerics who tell you to respond with violence. Lay down your stones and your anger. Go home and pray. God is too great to be troubled by the insults of fools. Follow Him.
Ridiculous. The violence won't go away until the last Quran disappears from earth. The violence is built into in the religion.
Anyone who starts looking deeper than those COEXIST! bumper stickers will find that. As former Daily Kos blogger Eric Allen Bell did.
More from Bell here.
You know what I would love to see just once?
Those fucking 'round table' discussions where some asshat opines on how we need to be sensitive to those 'expressing their anger'
I'd love to see one of the others gets get up walk calmly over to that person and the beat the fucking shit out of them. And then after he gets pulled off calmly walk over and sit in his chair and say "Tell us agin about how you need to be sensitive to the feelings of the person who attacked you"
Just once, thats all I ask

I was very disappointed with the treatment the muslims were receiving in Australia. I expected my beloved Aussies to be more intolerant of these unevolved vermin. Way past time to cull the herd of prehistoric creatures - evolution not working in this case.

Just thought I'd mention that I see an ad at the top of this page for "How to Convert to Islam."

Consider this analysis of Google's position.
I don't fault Google too harshly for this response, just as I don't fault Amy's website for (seemingly) offering instruction in Islamic practice.
First, Google's only blocking access to the film two countries (apparently), both of them wracked with violence. Free speech is about embrace of responsibility as well as freedom from encumbrance.
Second, that interference is almost entirely porous. Anyone anywhere in the globe will probably still be able to see the film.
More to the point, the internet itself is a largely American expression of beliefs, some of them technical and scientific, and others from the branching bushes of our culture. Anyone who uses the internet is going to see our approach to these matters, and come to admire that approach, whether they like what they see or not.
(At least, they would be able to see our true feelings if the president weren't such a pandering buffoon.)

"...and are susceptible to, you know, reason"
I know it looks like insane baboonery, but what the Muslim rioters are doing is perfectly rational.
They want the whole world to surrender to Islam. They want the US and every other civilized country to enforce Shariah blasphemy laws. And they believe that if they riot enough, murder enough, and terrorize enough, over the flimsiest pretexts (beauty pageants in Nigeria, cartoons in Denmark, obscure YouTube videos), they will get what they want.
The murdered Americans in Benghazi left bloody handprints on the walls as they were dragged away. They weren't just killed, they were tortured and slaughtered. In the face of this terrible act of war, neither the President of the United States nor anyone in his administration has uttered an unequivocal, unapologetic defense of free speech or Western civilization. That has to give would-be jihadis a lot of encouragement.
Nope, the Muslims are behaving rationally and deliberately. It's the people in the West who still keep saying Islam is a religion of peace who are not susceptible to reason.

I searched on YouTube today and saw that there were many clips from Monty Python's Life of Brian. To whit, I hereby declare Fatwa on John Cleese. In the meantime, I'm asking all Christians to please join me next weekend at the Google offices in Manhattan for a riot. Furthermore, I have also noticed that the entire Leni Riefenstahl film, The Eternal Jew, is likewise available on YouTube; and so, in the interest of being inclusive, I would also like to extend the invitation to any and all Jews—orthodox, conservative, reformed, or cultural. Thank you in advance for your outrage and support.

So, the following is extremely NSFW, and not something one would want to have to explain to a small child, but: http://tinyurl.com/8b9l8bl

I'd recommend looking at downloading Firefox. Then the add-on to that is Adblock Plus. And if you are using FF, I'd also look at Ghostery as well. My web surfing is much calmer that way.
