The Land Of Oz
New York, off in the distance, on the way in from JFK. Really cool Israeli driver. We talked about immigrants (like my landlord and one of the driver's relatives) who came to America with nothing, earned money, bought buildings and made something of themselves. I hope that's still possible these days!

We need to change the inscription on the Statue of Liberty to read: You didn't build that.

That's a lovely photo. I'll sometimes see a view like that from a car window, but I just can't get the camera ready in time...
I just noticed, if you crop away the top half of the photo, you get a neat "Heaven Shines on Midtown" effect. It might make a good cover photo for somebody's Facebook page.

This is me being pretentious and darling: My favorite memory of that view will always include the last glimpse of those hideous twins....
I'd taken my date to Windows on the World the night before, and she grew too drunk to appreciate the view. Haven't spoken to her since returning to Cali.
I never loved NYC the way some men do, but I hate terribly knowing that DC has surpassed it as the home of the savage animal heart.

Welcome to the Big Apple!
I would suggest a day trip down to the Jersey shore; but, we aren't exactly ready for company yet.
If you get a craving for some good chocolate while in NYC try 5th Ave Chocolatiere (excellent cocoa truffles) or Leonidas Belgian Chocolates - both in midtown.
I used to work within walking distance of both. I did indulge a bit more than I should have. Oh well, I don't drink, nor smoke, nor gamble, nor whore around - so, I feel "entitled" to one little vice, which is chocolate (only the best, of course)
Enjoy your stay in NYC!
