Is This What They Mean By "Male Privilege"?
Feminists try to shut down Warren Farrell's speech at a Canadian university -- including creating a human blockade to keep people from hearing him:
Joshua Kennon has a good piece on this and how to deal with speech you disagree with:
It doesn't matter whether you agree or disagree with Warren Farrell. It doesn't matter if you think his ideas are good or bad, whether you think he walks on roses or throws puppies over overpasses, or whether you are convinced his concepts will help or hurt the world. Intellectual honesty means you do not censor speech. You work to persuade your fellow citizens that your position is right based on reason and facts. You do not shut down their access to information.
Video of the thugs here:
Note: Any speech you disagree with isn't "hate speech," and if you can't do better to articulate an argument than that and "Fuck Warren Farrell," it's no wonder you take the thug's approach to another person's speech.

The thing I love to point out to feminists, or at least uniformed women who never bother to look beyond what other feminists told them, if Warren Farrell used to be feminists' poster boy.
And he never back away from the belief that women deserve equality.
No, his crime was nothing more than to point out men are also the victims of sexism and gender roles.
But by that time feminism was no longer about womens equality, it was about making men a scapegoat for every problem in a womans life no matter how far you hard to stretch the caricaturization. After all why bother to fix a problem when you can make more money by perpetuating it and blaming someone else?

Now, look closely. See who these people associate with and vote for, and ask yourself:
"Do I want to be associated with these people?"

My run in with this type was at university. I settled down in an armchair with a book in a common area (as normal, I was skipping a lecture, unusually I wasn't playing cards). I had no idea the room I was sitting outside was being used to hold a women's self defense class. Next thing I knew I had three angry women standing over me demanding I leave because I was making the class feel uncomfortable. I did try to point out I was in a public area and the contradiction that they were the ones threatening me. In the end I did leave, annoyed and upset. Shouldn't have, but you live and learn.

Anyone throwing a Nazi salute, male or female, deserves a baton to the jaw. It seems more and more like college is an extension of daycare with binge drinking allowed.

Great line, Eric.

There are about 45,000 undergrad & graduate students at U of T, and about 100 of them put on the pathetic display you see here. If the administrators at my alma mater had any balls, every one of the shrieking little fascists who barricaded the auditorium would have gone straight to jail (or gotten a good dose of baton per Eric's suggestion). At least their tactics didn't work this time.

So you think that sort of speech goes to far and should be illegal?
NicoleK at December 8, 2012 11:17 AM
OK, not an official baton. A civilian punch. Followed by arrest and a jury trial for assault. If convicted, emigrate.
phunctor at December 8, 2012 11:27 AM
The problem with this is that a few hundred are trying to control what is heard by others.
But really they are cowards. The combat for bad speech is to get the people on the other side to hear what you are saying -- not just simple suppression of the speech.

Was it a real self defense class Ltw? Or one of those bullshit course that give women an overinflated sense of self confidence that would result in them being more likey to get asaulted?

Given that they felt threatened by an unassuming, glasses wearing nerd curled up in a chair and reading a novel - I'd say it was the latter luj!

Here's what male privilege looks like for men: Combat deaths-- 99% male
Workplace deaths-- 94% male
Suicides-- 75% male
Homicides-- 74% male
Divorce (instigated usually by psychopathic stbx-wives) is the leading cause of male suicide.

I like Crid's description, the "endless festival of cleavage".

"But, not ALL feminists are like that!"
Yes, they are. Some just hide their hatred and bigotry better than others.

Here's another example of a group of irate people shutting down free speech.

You're right about Farrell, lujlp (I've read his books), and Farrell is right about men. Feminsts who are reasonable understand that and don't fear or hate Farrell.
