Islam: Pigs Are Haraam, Pedophiles Are Halal
Haraam means sinful. Halal means permissible.
In other words, pigs are prohibited and pedophiles are a-okay. (WWMD? What Would Mohammed Do?)
Joumana Haddad writes at NOW -- on "a blog about women's rights, human dignity, secularism and sexual freedom in the Arab world" -- about the pedophilia institutionalized as right and even righteous by Islam:
Islam teaches that a girl enters adulthood at the beginning of puberty (as if the onset of puberty equals maturity!), and thus becomes ready for marriage. The Islamic source materials state that prophet Mohammed (who allowed men four wives but authorized himself eleven) proposed marriage to Aisha when she was six. He assumed her silence constituted her consent. Some two to three years later, he consummated his marriage with her. He was fifty-four and she was nine.Allah, conveniently so, inspired him with verses that excuse and promote this practise. After him, numerous Muslim scholars, Sheikhs and muftis also promoted it. It is enough as an example of such abominable support to cite the horrifying words of Ayatollah Khomeini, one of the most famous Islamic clerics of the twentieth century, taken from his book Tahreer Al Wasila:
"A man is not to have sexual intercourse with his wife before she is nine years old, whether regularly or occasionally, but he can have sexual pleasure from her, whether by touching or holding her, or rubbing against her, even if she is as young as an infant. However, had he penetrated her without deflowering her, then he holds no responsibility towards her. But if a man penetrates and deflowers the infant (...), then he should be responsible for her subsistence all her life."The scandalising number of child brides in the world today, girls as young as eleven or twelve, who are sold into marriages from Iran to Yemen and from Saudi Arabia to Afghanistan proves that the problem is far from being solved. While in Islam there is an overwhelming focus on female chastity, and on girls' morally uncompromised manners and behaviour, the Islamic practice of 'institutionalised' paedophilia is not seen as outrageous, and it is quite normal for men to marry fourteen year old girls.
Women' hair is not to be seen, but it is ok for fathers to give away their little daughters in marriage to decadent men: After all, girls are a worthless burden, so it is best to get rid of them as soon as possible. Obviously, not all these child brides are Muslims, and I am not suggesting that Islam is the only reason for child marriage in the world. Clearly there are other economic, cultural and social issues behind it. But Islam at the very least allows, enables and even encourages the practice of child brides, since prophet Mohammed is the 'best of examples' (Uswa Hasana). Muslim child brides are also reported to be on the increase in Western countries like the UK, Germany and Canada.
If the Sharia isn't institutionalising paedophilia, then what is? It is depravity at its best! Nabokov's 'Lolita' is a benign children's story compared to these atrocities. Filthy pigs are allowed to marry little girls who are still at the age of playing with dolls. In the meantime, pigs' meat is Haram.
Go figure!

It is unfair to judge a religion or ideology by what individual members do: we can not condemn atheism because one atheist killed a man; we can not condemn Judaism because one Jew raped a woman; we can not condemn Christianity because one Christian burned down an apartment building.
...but we can and should judge religions and ideologies on what their holy texts, foundational documents, manifestos, and founders say and do.
If Marx said that he wants Communism to destroy families, then it's fair to levy that charge at Communism.
If Hitler wants to kill all the Jews, then we can judge National Socialism as being antisemitic.
...and if Mohammed himself was a child rapist, defended child raping, and put child raping into the Koran, then it's fair to judge Islam on that fact.

Okay, lessons for those who THINK they understand the difference between Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The bible is a historical document, taken as allegory, not words "god" supposedly took a lightsaber quill and wrote down. This is why we do not slaughter our neighbors for adultery (like Muslims do) or for wearing two different fabrics.
The Quran, on the other hand, is said to be the word of god, not to be challenged. And the "prophet" (more like the murderous huckster) Mohammed's behavior is to be emulated. Yes, that same Mohammed who raped, looted, pillaged, and fucked a child of 9.

The difference between Christianity and Islam starts at the top:

Religious texts reflect the times when they were written. The old testament approves of genocide. The new testament approves of slavery. The Koran approves of pedophilia.
Many fundamentalist Christian believe that the bible is the literal word of god but are still able to condemn modern versions of the horrors that are approved. (The first Presbyterian fundamental includes inerrancy of scripture.)
Many Muslims are able to believe the Koran is the word of the prophet but are still horrified by modern pedophiles.
Judge people by their actions - not their sacred texts. Unfortunately, you will find many valid reasons to condemn a significant number of Muslims. Holding their text against them is absurd.
Curtis at January 15, 2013 10:11 AM
"Judge people by their actions" Yes indeed, actions speak louder than words, and that applies to everybody, particularly those who claim to be prophets.
Mohammed married and raped prepubescent girls. Millions of girls are married off to evil old goats all over the Muslim world to this day, and Mohammed's actions, not just some verses in the Koran, are cited to justify this. Mohammed sold entire tribes into slavery. Slavery sanctioned by Islam persists to this day in Sudan, Mauritania, and elsewhere in the Muslim world. Again, Mohammed's actions are cited as justification.
Muslims are supposed to follow the example of Mohammed just as Christians are supposed to follow the example of Christ. And all of us are free to judge those who chose a man like Mohammed as their example.

I have no problem with the concept. But they are using their sacred texts to justify their actions, from murdering homosexuals, to adulterers, to the attacks on Israel, Jews, and Christians and the rest of the civilized world.

I'm trying to make sure I just read that right. Does this passage say that it's ok to rape an infant, as long as her hymen remains intact?
Boldly Beth at January 15, 2013 12:37 PM
No, no, no Boldly Beth. That's silly!
What it says is that he SHOULD wait until she's nine....but if he messes up, it's OK anytime....just if her hymen is broken, then he's stuck taking care of her the rest of her life. I mean, there's got to a moral compass somewhere, right?

I've long been of the opinion that the lack of bacon is exactly what's wrong with Muslim countries.

So you're saying that porking the children isn't enough for the devout?

And how about female genital mutilation? A practice done almost exclusively in Islamic countries...

It's an interesting point... why is mythology, of pretty much every religion, so messed up? The Gods are never behaving very well, and the people aren't either.
One mark of a good society is whether or not they can draw inspiration from these tales without being psycopaths.
UW Girl, it's my understanding that the Copts practice FGM as well. It's more of an Egyptian/African practice than an Islamic one.
