IIRC the green cross is a traditional symbol of disaster preparedness and industrial hygiene. And I'm with Crid; it may be corny, but it beats hiring a calligrapher at a six-figure salary.

Yes, I looked that up. And in Paris, it's a sign for a pharmacy.
