Confected racial outrage from the Antipodes... a marginally black sports player gets called an 'ape' by a 13 year old girl and holds up the match until she's evicted from the ground
The overpaid, under-mature, supposed 'adult' involved was apparently 'shattered' and 'heartbroken'. Dry your fucking eyes princess.
The kicker is, he really was asked by the police if he wanted to press charges (presumably under our lovely 'anti-vilification' laws). Fortunately by the next day his heart had mended enough to realise how badly it would affect his profile as a sports star to be prosecuting a 13 year old girl, and he declined.

I can understand that during a sporting event, an athlete can be blindsided by an off-hand remark. But once the game is over, he should have realized he overreacted. Frankly, he should apologize to the girl for having her removed from the stands. Not everyone roots for you, and the opposite side is going to not like you. If they call you names, well, sticks and stones and all that.
If he doesn't like being called an ape, maybe he should lose the beard.

A tragically high number of people on this blog imagine that merely revealing themselves to be offended is funny. Or clever. Or courageous. Or entertaining.

Had something interesting happen a couple of days ago. Got on a Southwest flight of about three hours. It was full and I ended up sitting with two total strangers who wanted to talk when we found that two of us were prior service, and all three of us were members of the NRA.
The conversation turned somewhat political and at some point in the flight, a woman in the seats behind me who looked like part of a young mid thirties DINK couple, slid a card through the seat without any comment.
The card was one of those fancy printed calling cards, and it simply said, on one side, "Be quiet"
I laughed. The gentlemen I was talking to were a little offended, and I wondered what would prompt someone to print up written orders that she was presumptuous enough to hand out to other adults. I suspect that she disliked our political opinions more than us talking over the jet noise. Has anyone else ever this happen?

Rude behavior on her part, probably because she couldn't wait to give out that little card. Polite behavior would have been to ask if you'd mind keeping it down just a little.
I loves Radley and Radley.

Don't wish you'd said this? Or this?

Not really.

Oh Crid, do shut up.
Unless I offended you. In which case, keep talking!

Amy, that Park Slope Family Circus link is great!
Then I went back through a few of the older toons only to find a mention of something known as a 'DivaCup'.
I had to look it up.
Holy earthmother of gaia, I'm sorry I went there.
