It's Only A "Very Public Breastfeeding" When TMZ Posts A Photo Of It
There was a TMZ post about some actress -- Selma Blair -- breastfeeding her kid at The Grove in LA.
The actual news is this: Kid gets hungry; mom responds. This isn't a sex act; it's lunch.

If they're bothered by the sight of this, my suggestion to them would be the same I would give to Amy regarding the sight of men in flip-flops: look the other way. It's not hard to avoid seeing.

Fuck TMZ.
One of the most nuturing acts any mother of any species can do, it's a private moment even if it is out in public. With all the inhumanity people are subject to today, this is an issue?

I think people who claim to be 'bothered' by breastfeeding mothers, are actually ultimately just being bullies - they just want to bully some breastfeeding mother, and their so-called arguments are just a flimsy rationalization for doing so. I don't know about the rest of society but I'm sick of bullies.

With all the Internet debate about public breastfeeding, I expected it to be a battle. In 6 months, no one has ever complained.

I breastfed while negotiating for a new car. We got a darn good deal. I BF'd anywhere I happened to be when a baby was hungry. DOn't want to see a slight boob-curve? Don't stare! Problem solved. Fortunately here in Austin and I *think* all of Texas, you have the right to BF anywhere you have the right to be.
Good for her for BFing even though her looks are a large part of her living.

And, here comes the "Ethicist" to save the day! http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2013/08/10/chuck_klosterman_on_breastfeeding_the_ethicist_thinks_formula_is_dangerous.html

Actually, momof4, I think that's the law nationwide.
I couldn't breastfeed either of my kids, so I'll fight ferociously for any woman who can and does.
Plus I think a lot of men who criticize public breastfeeding are just angry that they don't know how to react to a breast being used in a non-sexual way. "You are dirty because you make me think dirty thoughts!"

SCORE!!!
I also think that mothers who breast feed over long learn the hard way.
I had a cousin once, who breast fed till the kid was two! She stopped after Xmas dinner, when we were all sitting at the table for after dinner coffee. She pops out the boobie, and proceeds to feed the "baby".
Lo and behold, my mothers cat jumps on the table and walks past the kid. The kid of course, was torn between "eating" and watching the cat.
He decided to do both! He whipped his head around with his teeth firmly clamped on the nipple.
My cousin stopped breastfeeding that night.
XD

I am probably a jerk, but I would've been caught by surprise by this. Any breastfeeding women I've seen in public used a blanket as cover. And I would've been doubly surprised since her little boy is two. I've not seen anyone breastfeeding a toddler. I think wtf's story illustrates why very few go to that stage with the options available here.
That said, while it may have been in a public place, taking a picture and posting it on the web is just classless.

I could be wrong on this, but I'll be the prime demo for TMZ is women, 15-34.
So the real question ought to be why women care so much about other women's boobs.
Followed closely by wondering whether the kid getting lunch is old enough to be in kindergarten.
